Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

and two nights with lows in the single digits....grrrrrrr......

Our power is on after 3 days, but our road still has trees down on it. I hope the Township will get it cleaned up before this storm hits.

NOT looking forward to another storm. Sunday my son's boyscout troop was supposed to have their Red and White dinner but postponed it to this Thursday at our normal meeting day and time. Now we might not have school from another storm. sigh How many more days till summer???

I saw about the weather this morning also. I am sooooooo done with all this snow and cold! Thanks for the pictures of the flowers to remind us of what is to come zina8. Just think 5 months from now we will be complaining of the heat... Ugh... We just can't win with the weather..:(
Anyhow, yes I will be interested in some chicks, I am thinking about 12 will do for now. Maybe a few more.... Oh the chicken math.... I want more.... trying to keep it to a number that is easy to manage.... Had over 30 birds once.......got a little hectic with the four kids........but they were a lot younger then.. hmmmmm, I will have to make up my mind on the exact number, I'll let you know.. lol

If you need help cleaning up trees we might be able to help.. My hubby has several chainsaws. Has to, as we burn wood for almost all of our heat all winter.. Let me know if you need us. :)

I would love info on the sweetgrass source if possible!

I'll have to go search for it again. I shoudl have bookmarked her page. All I did was searched for Sweetgrass Turkeys and she was on the 2nd page of the search. I messaged her and she called me within 5mins! She said she won't have eggs for another 3 months, but I said that was fine!
I got about a dozen of each BRs and SG off Arielle last year and only one BR hatched. Of the SG eggs, all developed but all died between day 25-28. I think I should have had more plugs out of the Sportsman, which I have done since. Weird thing is, I got 6 eggs from WVStruttin at the same time and 4 hatched. I dunno. I am hoping to hatch at least a quad out of the 2 dozen eggs I hope to be getting from this woman.

37 Days until Spring

130 Days until Summer

Seriously, that is not very comforting. We go from to cold, to to wet, to to hot, to just perfect for about 2 weeks (if it isn't raining) during fall and then back to cold as hell. I hate PA. I want to move back to California. I can dream...

Thanks for the offer ~ but we are good. Most of the stuff that was i the way hubby cut up already, the rest will wait until warmer weather. There are some advantages to being retired ~ more time to do things and less need to go places!

We burnt through most of our wood pile as well this winter. Winter isn't over and I hope we have enough wood to make it through. We have to get to April and sometimes May. We had a huge pile this year and thought we might have a headstart on next years winter but no such luck. It has been soooooo freaking cold this winter. Well my chickens will be very hardy to survive this winter. Lost 4 chickens this year, all under 6 months old, so stinking cold. :(
