The dirty house will wait. :pop

The house will be much dirtier once this weather breaks. You will be outside wishing you had a port-a-potty near the coop. You will realize that its way past time that dinner should have been made, laundry wasn't done...again, dogs haven't been fed and the house has been a mess for months because the only time you come in the house is to go to bed lol. I've been told several times to go out and live with the chickens :)

I can very easily see this being me this summer lol

Just offered this on one of the facebook pages, and will offer here,

for those first time processors or even those just a little rusty,,,,,,,,I will gladly help you out and walk you thru the process...you would need to bring the birds to me, preferrably on a saturday....and bring coolers or other packaging supplies...I do have the scalders and pluckers for the process,  or if you would rather learn to do it all by hand,  I could do that also...

I know to some this just sounds wrong, but for others it is something they really want to learn

and folks I will sometimes work for a big plate of baked goodies.  you would be surprised the things we barter for....

If it wasn't so far I would totallt take you up on it just so I could use your equipment! Fisherlady brought her equipment when I did my 2nd batch last year. She showed me how to slit throats properly & using her plucker & scalder was SOOOOOOOOO much faster than pluckung by hand!

I cheat. I now have a live-in maid...lol

Oh, and I'm the 1 usually threatening people with being sent to live with the birds...lmao

just curious, because everyone says I do it backwards (whatever works) when you are cutting up for pieces, do you remove wings and thighs first, (apparently you are suppose to).....I find it easier to half them and then cut wings and thighs from the half,,,that way I can just leave some halved for the grill also......I also get nice straight, clean cut backbones that still have a little meat for stock this way...
We usually cut wings and thighs off first, but that's the way we've always done it. I've seen others do it the way you do it. To me, it's personal preference, neither way is wrong.

Would anyone be interested in buff brahma bantam chicks? I have two. About a week and a half old. I had a lone chick hatch so I ordered additional from Meyer which had a minimum of 15 chicks. Plus I just got some meat birds. I don't want to grow them all out and don't plan on keeping the buff brahmas. The two I have are very teeny tiny compared to the others.

Where are you located and do you have any idea of their sex?

Hmmm...what is a post pounder? Will be putting up a proper fence once the ground thaws. Called places about renting post hole digger thing. Same thing or not? Is it manual or automatic lol!! I'm getting too old to be digging these stupid holes. I'd be better off going out there with a spoon and not killing myself with a pic.

Its s heavy tube with handles that slides over top metal posts to pound them in the ground. Beats digging holes. I dig holes for Wooden posts

Ahh yes, I know what it is now. I'm going to be doing wooden post and have no intention of digging 30+ holes by hand. My DH laughs at me when I use the post hole digger because I barely get any dirt. I also don't want to hear him complaining about having to dig that many holes by hand for "my chickens". Guess I should buy him a small farm tractor lol

Wingstone -
I haven't looked into field peas to grow, so I am not sure what you have found. I am looking for the basic green ones that are usually in pigeon feeds. They are supposed to be 23% protein. I read that the yellow field peas aren't much different in nutrition.

I got my first turkey egg today!
Sadly, it was froze. Devon chucked it and I wanted to at least see if it was fertile. If it is, the father would be the guy's Narragansetts.
