Just spoke with a certified poultry tech in my area and I believe I know how I'm gonna do this!!! Think I'm gg to become a certified tech would make doing the tests soo much easier plus the I will know all the protocol!! Won't be that hard and is somewhere around 1.50 a bird to be tested ducks unfortunately are more grrr!!

The chickens are a start and it would still be a good idea to registered with the program. The chickens all get banded and than they have paperwork that goes with them. and the eggs of the parents if I understood correctly are covered under the parents until they reach an age.

Ah yes! I love Hornings! The one in Bethel is better by far in my opinion than the Myerstown store.

The one in Bethel is great! Always has been good. The chickens love when I get the bags of salad for a quarter or 50 cents

I was told too many chickens were getting hit in Clearfield County, and that I am not allowed to free range. I know ppl that do (including a business) but I don't want to risk ; A, getting in trouble B, my chicks getting hit C, I have no coverage, and a lot of hawks D, the retards next door probably have a million diseases running through their flock. Not to mention intestinal worms thanks to their wild cats.
I am jealous of everyone out that way who can free range. I so wish I could have had my aunt's farm!

hoe do you know if you flock have worm? or do you just periodically deworm?

Yeah, I am doing everything "right". It is just her. When I adopted her, and 3 sisters, they were about 2 1/2 -years- old. Until about a month ago each girl gave me an egg a day, and once I got an extra. No exceptions, every single day. I give them layer feed, oyster, grit, vegetables, some fruit, cracked corn, fresh water (just started using ACV yesterday) ... I do NOT use a light to make them lay.
Nothing "happened" to make her do this. My only suspicion is that they guy WAS making them lay through the winter, and she is tired. That is why I think it will be okay after a molt. The irony is that while the others (her sisters) have slowed down, she is giving me an egg about 5 or 6 times a week. Very few have been soft shell. They are just light. In fact, they were light, and hard as a rock. Like the calcium in her body can't regulate.
Anyway, just too bad it was a wasted egg.
Red might find himself sitting at the computer for a few days. I can show him pictures of roasted and fried chicken. Maybe open the freezer, and show him Jack, Joey, Stew, and Pot Pie.

i am sorry i forgot to ask what kind of birds? they could be in molt. are they hatchery stock? we have chatted a bit and i know you know whats up
do you know what that birds poop looks like ? birds that have or can not regulate Ca. can suffer kidney or other organ failure. also could be as you mentioned light stress. if they were used to getting supplemental light and now none could be a stress factor.

the rooster pick him up hold him like a football and march him around his girls for awhile. if he attacks you kick him like a football then do the pick up trick. do it till he gets the message. if this trick fails eat him.
