Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Hey Folks:

Here's my next generation chooks:(lounging on the deck)
the OE..17weeks (first act, just like your girl and smart too)

The dork mix...she's a sweetie!

This is a full breed CCL girl...she's not crested and is a bit small for her age...

This is the backup roo...he's got a bit too much orange/bronze in his coloring, but he's godzilla in size...15 week and bigger than all the LF girls

I have a 'thing' for barred feathers..hahaha..love it! One of these days I will actually have a barred bird...so many different kinds to choose from though...
Love how yellow those feet are..wowsers! Very nice looking birds Stake

Someone should invent a motorized one, like a little log splitter. Fun and practical! Bet your grandkids would crack them for you if you had a "hydraulic nut cracker"
you'ld lose that bet, grandkids are even lazier than i am and thats saying alot

but the hydraulic nut cracker is an idea, my honey should be able to make me one, hes a smart man

My broody silkie hatched her first chick. It's a d'uccle Easter Egger mix. Dad is HUGE and mom is so tiny. I can't wait to see what she grows into. 2 more eggs have cracks. The temps last night dipped into the 50's. Should I have brought mom and all the eggs in the house? I didn't think of it until this morning. I hope the other chicks hatch still.

Here is my Easter Egger rooster and the d'uccle

Since an Easter Egger is a "mutt" is all of his offspring considered an Easter Egger too (no matter the breed of the hen)?

My older silkie had her first soft shelled egg today. I knew something was up bc she was sitting all day in the yard. Finally when I went to check on her at bedtime I saw she had a soft egg under her.

I think I'm going to have a serama rooster for sale soon. Is anyone interested? $10

I have some other roosters that need to go soon too. Anyone near Pittsburgh know of someone who processes birds? I posted them on Craigslist for free and no takers. The one is mean and nasty and attacks me every time i go outside.

On, something ate all my green beans and peas in my garden. Half of my garden is bear now. Anything I can plant this late in the season?

second planting of peas, Cole crops, lettuce, onions, radishes, any short season cool weather crop, actually. Plenty of time. I actually plan to put some of that in, again.

With a cold frame it is possible to have fresh salad for Thanksgiving.

Agree on everything but the lettuce....won't germinate in warm weather....tried last year ....without success....

On another note, three of my young'ins have decided to roost in the big girl coop and I think 'join' the main flock.....that's perfect as I'll have two girls hanging in the grow out with my outcast orp(needed for winter).
