Some one put the walnuts in between 2 sheets of plywood and drove their car over it. No idea how effective that is.

There is a nutcracker that works on black walnuts. It uses compound leverage and is not cheap. Made of high grade steel, as I recall, with a large lever. My brother has one and it does work. Now, for the stained hands part.... I guess rubber gloves.

Someone new stated laying today! Though Lily (EE) was in the nest box last night throwing straw on her back, I'm not 100% convinced that she laid this egg. Could be wishful thinking since I want green eggs lol. Though I've never seen a brown egg with white spots before. I have 2 golden comets and a silver laced Wyandotte that are all really close so I don't know who did it. It was 5 cm and 1.5 Oz.
