Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Got the rubber roof on the coop. Using leftover pond liner. Made the ramp. But 3 of my bad girls went thru the shadow board fence so no more being out for them. Once the run is built I can use the fencing from the pen to block off the fence so they can be out again. Stupid birds.
Congrats on the roof! You are getting there, and YES...they can be VERY stupid...

So sorry to hear about Babs...my phone doesn't have the emoticons but if it did I would give you a ((((giant hug)))).
I'm glad the rest are doing good for you!

So sorry...

Babs was gorgeous.
Thank You guys...she was a very beautiful bird. I know i have enough pics on here of her...she was even prettier in real life..you know how pics are.
We are just going to see how these chicks do, I have my fingers crossed that they are pullets....I have to get some updated pics on here and have you experts help me figure out their sexes...It is raining pretty good out there right now, enough to have made cleaning coops and feeding time even MORE FUN!

Some bantam mutts that I'll use to make something...not sure yet what I'll use them for, they are out of a black red hen and a Platinum rooster. Somewhere in the parent's background there was recessive white. Rooster and pullet in the first picture and photos of the same rooster on the left at different angles.

Wow..I don't think those bird could get any whiter..geesh. You had to have bathed them before picture time

I'm so sorry for your loss

I'm glad to hear the babies are doing well though

Wow! We have never caught anything like that! We're not seasoned fishermen yet though lol. We just started last year and I couldn't even guess what kind of fish those are haha! We do love fishing though and eventually we'll know it all

So sorry you lost a good one...

Thank you Aurora & Annie...

This is a coop that will be auctioned off at the silent auction next week to benefit Montgomery County's 4H poultry club.

There will be lots of other poultry and farm related items there.

LMP:

I lost one of my Dorks last winter and tried everything to turn her around....its a sad situation....very similar to babs....sometimes it doesn't work out......
it was just so weird...couldn't get it figured out
idunno.gif
...she stopped laying, and her eating declined..of course then her weight was dramatically effected, (doesn't take much for a bird),..she did have two very soft shelled-eggs., in the middle of all this,..she never had those, not even as a pullet...so I was/am still stumped.
We figured it was an organ thing..because we ruled out all the obvious..and she held on for so long...just kept declining.
just such a bummer, she was a good bird, she helped keep things 'chill' in the flock...we would call her "the enforcer"..hahaha

I know Ginger misses her, they were the first two birds for me. Ginger is STILL broody....I need to get that bird some chicks..YES, i have finally broke down....she is soooo determined and I want eggs again..this would be the fastest way back to good with this one..

Dheltzel, where you at, I need to know what to do with these trees, should I pick pears early and ripen them in paper, or wait till they drop....same with the walnuts, should I gather what drops early, or is that the tree's at of getting rid of bad one's?

Can the chickens have any of this, these tree's are loaded beyond what I can use.

Mine eat pears....My pear trees haven't gotten big enough to produce so there's only a few to give them......

That's good to know, especially for the one's that fall to the ground and immediately get attacked by insects, added protein for the birds.

Anything on getting the walnuts out of the shell, I have in the past gotten to the point of having them cleaned dried and ready to go except taking that shell off...I got frustrated and gave every last one to the squirrels.

I know you can buy nut crackers that work on them, but I do not want to invest in one, unless I know I have a market for the finished product, as of now they are just for my own use, but with 3 huge tree's it would be possible to sell some if I could simplify the process

...they look good until I get them in here and loaded, that's when i find out they are fuzzy and you can't see a darn thing! Anyway...If you all would be kind enough to TRY to help me figure the sex of these two I would be greatly appreciative...If you can...I will be taking better pics this-afternoon...Hoping both are pullets
fl.gif
..hahhaa, don't we all?!
I had to put them in my pocket as I took pics...they were not happy about the whole experience...I pretty much leave them to their momma, so they are not too people friendly right now. I know I over loaded this post..sorry...
