I was disappointed at the Butler swap today. On FB it sounded so big. I drove 40 miles to go today and the one right down the road is AT LEAST double the size. Only about 8 cars there total. It was listed to start at 10 so I got there early at 915 and people didn't start showing up until like, 1045. There was one other guy there before it started.

On the bright side, I sold all of my birds. If you're the guy who bought my cockerels, holler. I forgot to ask if you were on here.

the Altoona swap stunk too :( I still have my extra roo (so if someone needs a young blue copper Marans cockerel, let me know). I did get excited though for a minute. One guy offered to trade his two young BCM hens for my Lou BUT I looked at them and they were both young cockerels and they didn't know it :( so disappointing.

That stinks :( There's one tomorrow at my local TSC. I'm going to that one at 7. I just felt bad because the family likes to come to those and see the animals and there wasn't really anything to see. Plus it was about an hour away. I thought my local one was small, but I guess not now that I went out to the Butler one.

That guy probably knew they were cockerels and was just trying to get ya. I've had it happen. A guy asked if I wanted his 'Barred rock hens' that were actually dirty, sickly Dominique cockerels. I always ask someone what they have and if they say "What are you looking for?" I say that I don't know, and that I'm looking for roosters and hens so that they tell the truth about gender. When my duck lost his little curly tail feather this summer, it occurred to me that people could easily pluck a drake's curly tail feather and call it a hen.

... DH and I would night fish the Susque. when we lived in LAnc. Co...so much fun...miss standing in the river, looking up at all the stars..would see quite a few 'falling' stars out there...
Here is a Mama non of the other hens would dare to mess with, especially when she has chicks. She has only 4 chicks, which I don't mind as it is a late hatch for me.

she looks serious!..Very cute pic!!

Have some sad news..we lost Babs a couple days ago. She was the Partridge Wyandotte that hadn't laid for a very long time...I had done everything I could , besides taking her to a vet...thought maybe she would turn the corner, but never fully did. She was one of my first two hens, Ginger is the other.
In happier news...
The two Marans chicks are doing great..i have to get updated pics..they are feathering-in very fast!! Those little buggers can really move & fly around..hahaha
I hope everyone is doing well...been very busy with the garden & grand daughter watching..hahaha...

I'm glad the rest are doing good for you!

So sorry... :hugs Babs was gorgeous.

Got the rubber roof on the coop. Using leftover pond liner. Made the ramp. But 3 of my bad girls went thru the shadow board fence so no more being out for them. Once the run is built I can use the fencing from the pen to block off the fence so they can be out again. Stupid birds.
