Congratulations! Our 2 EE hens both laid their first eggs yesterday! One is a large bluish green & the other was a small tanish cream with lavender specks.

I have given up on trying to avoid any more broodies this year. We are the poster children for the phrase 'be careful what you wish for' when it comes to broodies. I had wanted a 'few' to provide us with a sustainable population method without incubators.... we are now on #23 for the year!
I'm about 1/2 hour north of Harrisburg and could set you up with either a young salmon faverolles or cuckoo marans cockerel.

She couldn't go wrong with one of your beautiful guys!

Congrats on your new eggs!

Blarney, how the heck did the kids get those home?!?
Don't tell her Blarney!!! She's looking for tips to help her sneak home some new critters of her own!

The rabbits were in a cardboard box in the back of the car... It was almost 11pm when we finally finished with ribboning the poultry and I was dead tired...that, and I'm not the most observant person in the world.

Fisher, I too have yet ANOTHER broody! I'm tempted to stick these 3 day old Muscovys under her... -the rabbits were in a cage in the closet, but there are still shavings everywhere!

Does anyone know anything about Gravely tractors? A friend of ours just sold us one. It's a 1978 818T Gravely. $300 and it came with a plow, tiller, tire chains and 54" mower deck lol. They got a new tractor in the spring and needed to clear out some space in the shed. We know nothing about them. Good name? Bad name? I tried to upload a picture but no cooperating from the Internet today.

I believe you will find they are outstanding and much sought after. They last forever because they can be repaired and repowered with relative ease.
By repaired, I'm not saying parts are easy to find, but that they are simple in design and use parts that can be found as stock parts, bearings and such.

But I could be wrong.

I gave everyone free choice oyster shells yesterday and today none of my duck eggs were broke opened or ate. thank goodness! I'll have to leave a bowl of oyster shell in the coop and outside for now on, this way its always available to them.
