woke up this morning to duck eggs broken and eaten and one of the chicken eggs broken and eaten, The ducks made a nest on bottom of the coop, I think I need to get them a nesting box, I think whats happening is they are so clumsy that they end up kicking the eggs around after laying them and end up breaking them. I added oyster shell free choice, but im not sure they are eating any or not.

I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased any Black Copper Marans from RayinPA? I have been thinking about obtaining a pullet from him, but I wanted to see what other people thought of theirs, as far as personality, laying habits, etc. Thanks!

My ducks like to use old tires with straw in them for nesters, which is fine by me, gives me a repurpose for some of the old tires around here

This is what I found this morning also, they are covered with her fur and wiggling under there, so I did not bother them...

Hubby called me at work last night and said she had globs of hair in the corner of the cage, I stopped last night and put the nest box in, I only covered the bottom with straw and she did the rest.

Didn't count but there's a lot of pink in there.

I haven't gotten any from Ray, but do respect him as a breeder. He breeds to the Standard, keeps an eye on egg color and temperment. He is also conscious of Biosecurity. I keep Marans and do like their temperment immensely.
