Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

In life, there are many things that can have their pros and their cons. My husband just called to say that he should know Monday morning for sure whether or not he is getting a new job. If he does, I will be going on the road with him. Pro, I won't be alone. Con. I won't EVER be alone. And I will have to give up my little farm (as it is). For clarification, he is a trucker. We will be on the road 3-4 months at-a-time before coming home for a couple of days. We are possibly going to be hitting Aurora up for eggs when we are here. I hope she has enough to sell us!
I currently have 15 hens and a rooster 1 - 2 1/2 -years-old. I will be looking to rehome them over the next week. I will only be asking $5. The five Bourbon Red turkeys I have are another matter. I am holding off putting them up for sale until I know for sure I am leaving. If you think you are interested in a trio of turkeys, please do let me know.
This has been an interesting journey. I am glad I took it, and I am glad I have had you guys to help me along the way. I can't believe I am actually crying right now!
I do believe that in the mid-summers I will spend two months at home to raise CRX. It will satisfy my need to watch something grow, and it will be food for the freezer during the rare times we are home, as well as something for the truck as I will be canning (truck stop food is $$$!!!).
I hope to hear from a few people. Processing 16 chickens and 5 turkeys is a lot of work, and I would have to do it in one day. I am not Wingstone or Fisherlady. They can do anything!

I wish I was closer, I would take a couple of those hens. We seem to hatch very male heavy. Good luck on the road!

Anyone have experience selling on craigslist? Was it good or bad? Feeling very frustrated so far with responses. We are trying to sell some of our slate blue turkeys and it's making me consider freezer camp instead of selling.

I generally use it to get rid of stuff birds I don't want for various reasons and ask but give them away. I still have issues. I just tell the p.i.t.a. people no. I actually had a guy want me to drive an hour to sell him ten roosters for $10 (I didn't have time to process).

Sometimes it works well, but people expect top quality at low quality process.

Mixed experiences, some good people who I've become friends with, some not so much. Lots of no-shows from people who seem very interested in the first email, but never respond after that. Some sellers only want to meet at public places, and I can understand that, but generally people are good once you talk to them on the phone. I try not to make rash judgements with just a phone call, but often you can tell a lot in the first minute with them on the phone. People with bad phone etiquitte are often ill-mannered in person too.

Same deal with buying on CL, there are a lot of bad deals out there, but enough good people to keep looking. Wish I had more pens to pursue some of the deals I see out there . . .

Weird laying season right now. The young hens, are starting to lay well though, especially some of the bantams. I doubt I got more that 3 dozen eggs all year from the silkies, but hatched 1 pair and now that young hen is laying almost every day and one of the older ones too (that had quite for a long time). Getting an egg a day from the cochins I hatched from eggs I got from Wing. Gorgeous little birds too, every one different and all sweet and talkative.

the view from your back porch...I'm green with envy....!!!
I often think this with Blarney's pictures, I can just imagine that view with a summertime thunderstorm moving in...I know it's weird, but I like storms.
Not weird at all, we often sit on the porch and watch the storm roll in. The house I grew up in had a covered porch and my parents would do the same thing. @hendricks... Are you my neighbor? . ;)
