Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

My phone is behaving itself today! Yeay!
I have been singing the egg song around the house, and on the motorcycle. I even tried it in the way LMP suggested. So far, he hadn't caught on to what I am doing. Unfortunately, there is no room in the truck for anything. Even a chick would be cramped! I spent most of the day yesterday rearranging things. It is going to be too tight.
Today is filled with legal errands. Selling the other house, getting a copy of our marriage certificate and something else. I wasn't paying attention when dh told me.
I will be gone by about one tomorrow. Everyone please kiss your flocks for me! Unless they have mites. That would just be gross!

I'm sorry to hear you won't have chickens ( for now ;), but I'm glad for you in the next phase of your life. I will surely give my chickens a kiss for you tonight! Many blessings on your travels, we expect lots of pictures! :D

So I'm not sure if my Silkies are so inbred and stupid or if they are just young and scared for their lives. They are always spooked by me, I think I may have to sit with them more. They are a bit leery of new treats too. I am afraid to let them out yet with my big girls, and I see there is a frost for our area for Saturday night. I put a box with a cut out door in the silkies run but they are just afraid of it. They need to go in the big girl coop soon to stay warm, they are so tiny and skinny. Do you guys mix your LF with your small silkies? The bantam Cochin is doing okay with the big girls in the coop, except when she chooses to roost on the porch with the Black Silkie mix.

That's is Aurora's code that we are chicken sisters. Haha!

I have kept serama with LF, they have always done well....silkies are general more small and boney for lack of a better word, my small silkie girls always seem really skinny, but they get plenty of food, just seems o be the way they are. Others with silkie should chime in here, I only have a couple of these.

Can not believe that the sweet little Cochin would decide to be a bully, did not think any Cochin could do that.

I was surprised too seeing as how gentle and sweet she had been. She's still very sweet with people though! She is also hanging around the Silkie pen a lot, I'm not sure if she is bonding, or planning her hazing ritual.

Offering here first, I need to get the drake number down for winter,
Gonna offer duck both mallard and Muscovy meat for $2.00 a pound, only to those on here... I know the Muscovy are worth more than that at auction, but I would rather see them feed someone I know than a total stranger..

Your choice of type.
At this price I will not spend a lot of time on detailing so you may have to pick off a few stay feathers.

I just left Cloud and her babies out for the first time while the rest of the flock is out. So far, the flock isn't bothering them much. One hen got attacked by Cloud and chased away but another came over pecked Cloud and a baby on the head and then left so I'm not sure how i'm feeling about this yet. I'm supervising closely though.

Could be both. I've never had a Silkie I would consider smart, I also think many can't see very well and that can make them feel insecure until they learn they are secure in their present circumstances. Mine flap like crazy when I pull one from the pen because they know they can't fly to catch themselves if the fall, but once I have them held securely, they settle down and endure some petting.

I tell people silkies (and cochins) are the lap dogs of chickens, like shitzhus for ex. Not to offend anyone that owns one, but if you want a smart dog, get a collie or poodle. If you want a smart chicken, get a wilder type bird, like Sumatras or games. That said, silkies and cochins are among my favorites. Naturally tamer and more dependent on their human companions.

Hey wingstone, whatever became of those Hemadoras you finally tracked down? With winter coming, I was thinking about the wisdom of getting the hardiest breed of chicken.
