Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I want to try shipping eggs since I've never done it before and I've had several inquiries about my turkey eggs. Would anyone be willing to be a test subject for me? Anyone with their incubator fired up be interested in my 4 slate blue turkey eggs from today?

I have 18 already set in my incubator that are 10 days from hatching. I set 19 and only had one that was no good during candling. I've seen plenty of breeding between my male and all his girls so I feel pretty confident that all should be fertile.
Hey, I would be more than happy to be a test subject! The bator is even already running! I have wanted turkeys for a while so this would be great!

sure seems like a lot of work to me, why do that when you can have the real thing:idunno

Agreed, but some people love a project.

I did a quick candle of the Ayam Cemani eggs on day 3 (while I was putting the turner on), got none developing, I haven't given up hope completely, but am not feeling so good about it. At least the money went to a good cause.

Wishing it would warm up again, those few days of warmth were quite a tease. Have a great day all!

Hoping for development for you! And wish granted on the weather. Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be in the 60's.

Home Depot is having their Spring Black Friday sale. Lots of good deals. Veggie starts 5 for $10, and I think bagged potting soil is $2 a bag. I will be headed there tonight or tomorrow!

My set up is inside the barn, but others have been successful at doingtis outside.

I really like your set-up..wish i had the barn space, that would make it nicer..drier. Love the little pinkies!..hahaha

my gosh we are getting a LOT of rain!! This is getting old fast..

...so, ready for all this to dry out a bit..
I would like to let the girls out into the yard for a little exercise and a grass binge...but it's not too much fun getting soaked.
Hope everyone is doing well..keeping dry!!

That should work too as long as you are home to catch the pip before the first 1 hatches. I've never used a turner. Even my cabinet is hand turned.

hatch day is supposed to be tomorrow. I've been watching them very closely all day today. I think I'm going to kill the turner tonight before bed just to be safe.
It's driving me nuts! I'm trying in vain, putting my ear up next to the bator to try to hear if any are peeping but all I can hear are all the noisy babies in the brooder below lol

I'm not sure why, but this year is perhaps my worst year ever hatching. Just having horrible luck, same incubator, same method, just bad results.

What is happening, where in the process are you losing the chicks? I had a lot of damaged eggs from the bitter cold Feb, about a third just never developed. At least I got good at candling. Hopefully moving past that now, but some breeds are still having fertility issues. May be time to switch out some roos.

Do you "dry hatch" ? What are your humidity targets?

You need a second incubator.

See how neatly I solved your problem? Tell your husband that is the only way, then bat your eyelashes or whatever to get his buy-in.

Haha! I DO have a second bator, right next to the first lol. BUT it's a little giant still air and I'm not ready to risk trying to hatch upright in it. I was comfortable hatching all my other eggs in it but these ones, the air cells were so bad that I'm hatching them upright in a carton and since it's forced air, I know the temps will be right all around them. So, I'm making it harder on myself.

BTW, I do have permission to buy another incubator. A GQF sportsman :) but I have to save all the money I make from selling chicks to get it lol. I'm up to $160 so far lol
