Congratulations! Hope your alpha Tom passed on some strong genes.Hatch day! I've got baby chicks galoreI love seeing what has hatched since the last time I looked. Got 3 Midget White Turkeys today, the last from the old tom that passed away in Feb. I can't tell yet if the new tom is up to the job.
Rodents are amazingly good escape artists. (Aren't rabbits in the rodent family? If not they are vey similar for sure.)Peter Cottontail is a good primer for anyone that thinks rabbits are easily contained.
Owl indeed. This is a VERY good book to both learn about owls, and read about a woman's experience raising one (it was not able to be returned to the wild). Highly recommend it, see if your library carries it. http://www.amazon.com/Wesley-Owl-Remarkable-Love-Story/dp/1416551778Do hawks fly at night ? I just had something really huge fly over my head, to large to be our regular cooper hawk that visits. Whatever it was took off from on top the barn and over the house out towards the open field.. Huge, impressive wing span. Silent, no wing flapping just a glide.. Probably should have scared the crap out of me but I was in awe of the size of whatever it was.
They are almost spcompletely silent flyers, and their hearing is incredible. I learned a lot from the book I referenced above. My thought also All these year's of walking around at night, that would be the first one I seen
Beautiful! On of these days I have to visit you two when it's daytime to see all your lovely flora and fauna!
..here ya go...glad to have ya back!
No rabbits are part of the Lagomorpha family. Along with pikas and hares. (I studied zoology on online college for a bit)Rodents are amazingly good escape artists. (Aren't rabbits in the rodent family? If not they are vey similar for sure.)
