Let's see now....if I had to choose between those 2, I would say.....uh... Orpingtons. Yup, Orpingtons. Final answer.

Lol! Not even sure what colors you have any more!

You know, I've been hatching out a lot of them this year, my project birds, starting to get a lot black and yellow now, used to be a lot of blue in there. I'm not even using the partridge roo for breeding at this time, so if you need him back...,.
Or if you want a lavender roo....
Or chicks......

I can't believe you still have that Partridge roo! Actually, I could really use him.

That would be awesome! Depending on where, she's about 2 hours from me, but less than an hour from my son. I have to go up there soon anyway, so it wouldn't take much to hop on over there.

The roo is full grown? Does he get along with the birds I'm getting? I'm not sure I could handle a full grown rooster on this trip. I can talk with hubs, but I wouldn't have any where to put him at home either... If I had the new run finished and the meaties processed, I'd have a tractor open... But that hasn't happened yet. If you can wait a month, I'll be taking a trip sans DH and the chicken tractor will be vacant by then too.

We'll wait then. I have him sperate from any flocks in a small pen. He could easily survive in a dog crate for a week or more. I may even let one be borrowed, or a cage. I make cages on a regular basis, like 2x3 feet, so that could be done. He is calm, but the birds you are getting have only been with hatch mates.

look who thinks she's an 'inside dog'...

Hmmm... I may actually need a cage, would they work for rabbits? I'm going to need a grow out pen, I think I'd like one that opens from the top since I have a heck of a time getting my doe out of her cage through that front flap door. I just can't pick her up high enough to tuck her butt under her, she just grips down and kicks/scratches me up. The front flap doesn't keep them contained either... If one of the girls forgets to latch the door, they can wiggle it open and hop out. I had to retrieve the buck from the yard twice this week. Is that something you could do? We'll be out again at the end of June and I could definitely bring the lavender roo for Silkie, especially if I was already picking up a cage for myself. :)

I buy my wire locally, so my choice of size is limited, they are generally two feet wide and two feet high, although I can go smaller, just extra cutting. Length can be whatever you want within reason. Door can be anywhere, I just cut a hole then make a piece to cover it. I generally make them open out and use dog chain clips to hold them closed. Easier to get and effective.

If you want, I can figure out a price. Pm me and let me know what you need.

So I'm waaaay behind here, looks like I missed this fun farm day right in Media no less (Everybody's Home Town).

I'm not gonna lie, this week has sucked. Found out the birds in my quarantine pen have MG, I had chicks hatching from that coops and needed to cull the chicks and the actively hatching eggs. -Cause that's why I signed up for this whole poultry thing....so I can be a chick killer.

Apparently there is a way to hatch eggs out of infected birds by giving the eggs a 'Tylan Ice Bath', looks complicated and a real PIA, but my son loves these birds and wants to move forward with their line. We haven't even recovered from last year's Mycobacterium, seriously with this?...

i seen an article about hatching eggs from mg... it said something about raising the temp for the first few days..

do you have a link to the article for the tylan ice bath? I have a few eggs from the girls I had to put down and my lavender roo that had to go. I'doesn't really like to keep their bloodlines. I loved those birds :(

Unfortunately we lost one of our Bourbon red poults tonight :( he was 2 weeks old today. A few days ago, he started acting very lethargic and weak. I managed to perk him up with some electrolytes and scrambled eggs for a day or so but he was just too weak. I came home tonight and he was gone :( the other 4 are still doing great and are growing like little weeds (@SilkieSensation-the 3 from you are all doing wonderful).
