I am getting bantams from emorems0 if you don't want the duck I would love to have her if you could get her to emorems0. I only have a few ducks and I just am not getting enough duck eggs for my family I have been looking for one or two more ducks and to have one with a blue tinted eggs would be absolutely awesome.
if that's ok with emorems0 and duckies1230

That's great. I don't know how I'd help in transport, I live in Pittsburgh and my husband will rarely drive anywhere

@speney and @duckies1230 can figure out who wants her, I'm happy to drop off to speney with your RIR roo and bantams, or drive out to duckies1230 on my way through Pittsburgh to Beaver County. It doesn't much matter though if @Just Ducky10 can't get her down to Lehigh Valley to catch the chicken train (ie, me.. lol). I'll have an empty crate in my car on my way home Halloween weekend anyway so I'm happy to help transport to whoever wants Just Ducky's duck, but I won't have time to drive up to the poconos (that's where hunlock creek is, right?) from LV that weekend so she will need to get the duck down to me somehow.

My Rhodebar laid her first egg today! A true fart egg. It was so teeny! @dheltzel, how big do the Rhodebars get? Just curious, she's still pretty small. :D does anyone have a pic of a full grown Rhodebar?

Oh, and here is another pic of one of the bantam Cochins chicks. Roo or pullet anyone?

Sorry @speney and @duckies1230 , unfortunately Lehigh Valley is to far for me to drive especially since we only have 1 vehicle that might be able to take that kind of drive and someone else in my family uses it to drive to work and will definitely be using it that weekend. :(

@duckies1230 I'm glad to hear you were able to find a mate for your drake and I wish you luck with your baby. :)

@speney I wish you luck in your search for more ducks. You have the opposite problem that we have, too many eggs and no one who wants to buy them. Most asked question we get asked, "You can eat duck eggs? Is it safe?" lol. :)

If anyone else wants to buy her or is willing to play chicken train, let me know. We would really like her to go to a pet home as she's really sweet.

Actually, thinking about it now, I think @speney is probably only about an hour down Rt 81 from where you are. Maybe speney can just come and get her?

One of these is the mother of your RB pullet! For scale, the blue feeder is a standard 5 gallon bucket.
I was going to say "exactly the same size as a Rhode Island Red", but that might not be a useful comparison if you've never raised RIR's.

I keep being impressed by these. I have 2 young pullets in a tractor with a bunch of CCL's and I caught one to move her. It was easy to handle her, she seemed fine with being picked up, even though I never handle her except to move her. I can tell you those CCL pullets with her would NOT be fine with the same treatment. She sat quietly in my hand as I carried her to her new pen. Once there, the existing birds started chasing and harassing her. It took about 10 minutes for me to get her back out from the corner where she was hiding. She was not happy and immediately bit my arm and held on like a snapping turtle. I put her back where she came from and still had to pry her beak off my arm. I figured I deserved that. They are extremely calm birds, but also very assertive and will let you know if you cross the line with them (rather than just fleeing hysterically like most of my pullets).

Next year I hope to try a Rhodebar/Bielefelder hybrid. I hope to improve their productivity even more with some "hybrid vigor", but still keep the autosexing. If it works like I hope, these could be perfect for backyard flocks as the heavy producers, with a Welsummer and/or Legbar thrown in for unusual egg colors and a more "predator alertness".

That cochin sure looks like a pullet to me. I seem to recall cochin roos showing a much larger comb at a small size.
