Do you think it's a good choice for painting coop?
Primer is not intended to be the final coat. Do a web search on "painting using primer with no top coat".
You can get combo paint and primer, those are ok, of course. This is what I've been painting a picket fence with:

Tilly, I think you need to paint on top of it.
I'd use an oil base primer and either oil or latex paint. Glossy is easier to clean and sheds water better.
I am going to be moving to PA in the near future. If anyone knows of a small acreage with a house and barn, for rent, please let me know.
