Does anyone keep Black East Indie ducks?
I might be interested in a few hatching eggs...

I don't know of anyone that has them, but Ideal Poultry sells the ducklings from Feb - April for $5.70 each (sexed). They also show up at the fairs and the PA Farm Show, so there are breeders in PA, but I have no idea who they are or it they would sell eggs.

What breeds are you looking for? I have Legbars and Rhodebars laying a little right now. Turkeys are still laying too, but could quit anytime. Might also have some Ams or Welsummers by then.
Thanks, but I have a quad of CCLs going (assuming the young boy gets his game on)....I am really looking for Red Dorkings...and might be looking for an adhoc Chocholate layer......not sure whether I want a welsummer or another marans.....

Thanks for the info!
I'll check out Ideal Poultry and keep my eyes and ears open.

I remember him saying that they would be about 6 weeks old when we got them, so about 9 weeks old this weekend? Does that sound right?
Yes, they were hatched on 9/19, I think. It could be a week earlier or later, but I think that was the date. Their parents were hatched mid-late Dec 2014 and the first one started laying in mid-June, but pretty sporadic for a while. You might start getting eggs in March, but April might be more realistic.

Given your propensity for the unusual, you might want a Welbar when I have them laying. The hens look a lot like a Bielefelder, but they should lay dark eggs, how dark I am not certain until I get them penned up because they are in with some pure Welsummers now and I can't tell who has started laying.

Thats roughyl what I thought but than I did the backwards math and was getting screwed up.

I did the backwards math and came up with roughly 9/19 but than for some reason I did it again and came up with 9/12 which would put them a week earlier. Thanks for the info.

This may be a long shot and require some digging, but these days some of the fairs and poultry association shows post winners lists online. If you can find any major shows from past two years online you may get a few names to start googling. Many of the poultry associations have online homepages and you may find links on them to breeders listings. Like I said, it will take some research time but may provide a start.
