That's so cute

HI all new here. I don't have Chicks yet hopefully will be ordering them on Monday from myer. I only want 6 and it is tough to find a,place that will deal in so few birds. Any advice for raising chickens in our great state would be great.

What do you want to do with chukar? I was looking into them at one point but I was told that they're nasty.

Raise them as pets, if possible. If not, well, I've heard they're good eating. I don't take much stock in the reports of people on how a certain breed is nasty. Sveral people have had awful experiences with Orpingtons, but mine are the quietest, sweetest girls around. It differs bird to bird. :D

Ergh. Cannot find anywhere whatsoever that sells chukar chicks for a low minimum, due to the fact that anything less than thirty many of them will die in transit since they're not warm enough. So, I have a plea for anyone willing. If someone would like to get the thirty, it'd be awesome if I could just pay for five of them. I don't have room for thirty, as much as I want to.
have you tried looking for hatching eggs? :) if you can't hatch, some feedstores who are doing chick shipments right now might be able to order some for you

Hi there! If you have any questions, this is a great place to ask them. Everybody's very helpful. FYI, smaller breeders or a feed store are usually happy to sell as few as six and it might be cheaper and safer than shipping so few. Just a thought, depending on what kind(s) you want to keep and when you want to get them. Welcome the the addictive world of poultry! Nice to meet you!
