Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Lucky I have been trying to get one of my hens to go broody for about a week now

We have a few right now, all different stages...
Lacey is still with her hatch from New Years Day, though she may cut the apron strings within the next week or two...
Jo has her hatch from Jan 31...
Janeway hatched just over a week ago (the hen in above pictures)
Gracie went in a box Saturday and Brownie parked herself yesterday, I will be giving them eggs this weekend

I thought about it, but don't want to make them sit too long. I'm hoping Frannie, Heckle, Jeckle, Rosie or Hardrock get moody for an Easter Hatch...or Buffy,or Ilea, or Pidgy,or Maddie.....lol

Lol, you do have broody central running out of your place! I'm curious to see if Ana and Elsa inherit that broody gene.

I'm hoping they do... I didn't even mention their Aunts...Bess, Connie, Cagney or Millie...and then there is Patty....oh, boy...I'm hoping they don't all decide to get moody in the near future or we will be having to do more rearranging!

Hey, I know not a lot of us on here are from the western part of the state, but does anyone on here know someone from Western Pa that would have adult cotournix quail for sale this time of year? Thank!

Thank you! Hope your trip was smooth

The trip was great, especially on the way home. Once I put my hand down with them, everyone want to jump on my hand. Brownie, the brown sexlink, was the smallest one, but she managed to kick everyone else out and slept almost all 3 hours in my hand. She is also the one first in brooder and gave the second chick a stinky eye and pecked her. I never could image a chick can have that kind of mean look on her face!

She was gonna be Candy, but after saw her attitude, I think She should be called Brownie (sweet and spicy). I haven't figure out the other chicks who is who, other than Dolly the Rees CCL, who is much darker than the others.

I didn't get any photo last night, because everyone run under mom heating pad within 1 minute after I put them in and being so quiet. I put some chick feed on the floor this morning and did get every one come out eat.

Didn't have time to upload the photos. I'll try tonight.

I am so glad they are in such a great home. I am also amused by the "spunkiness" of those sexlinks. It must have a genetic basis because they seem energized from the moment they hatch. The hatch fast and jump around like quail in the incubator. It has the be the California Grey in them, Ameraucanas never act like that. Last week there were 2 that hatched late and had to be helped out (humidity issues - corrected now), they are still about half the height of the turkey poults, yet they seem to have no problems making their way in the brooder with the big chicks. It's going to be interesting seeing how they turn out.
