Hello, I am from Luzerne county Pa. I have 9- 5 1/2 week old chicks that are currently in a brooder on my enclosed porch. I have a heat lamp on at night, temp has been in 20s -30s...and on cold days (below 60, pretty much everyday it has been cold). We are moving them to their coop on Saturday. I was going to continue to do the same...heat lamp at night and turn off during the day when above 50. Sunlight should help heat coop too. Is this a problem? With the cold Temps when should I ween them off this?
Yes, our hens seem to cooperate quite well, you could move the 6 from the Marans to Elsa and reset the Marans with new eggs if you wanted, but for that to work she would have to commit pretty quick.
Welcome! I think they will be OK. Please consider to protect the heat lamp with hardware cloth or something similar, so the chickens would not accidentally break it and cause a fire.Hello, I am from Luzerne county Pa.
