Those feathers don't usually show up until around 12 weeks old though right? That's the earliest I've noticed them.

I notice them on the neck much earlier than the saddle feathers show on their backs, the saddle feathers are definitely not obvious until 12 weeks or so.

There is a place of backyard chickens where you can have people look and sex your chickens. For me last year, they were very accurate. Aid they are 7 weeks and have the redness and size in their wattles and combs....boys. No question. In another two months around 16 weeks....then maybe you would have a question. Hens only get that red as they get close to laying.

Just saw the first part of your post. We are looking to move within an hour of Warminster, north and or west. Chester county is a bit far and our budget is fairl limiting. We shall see. First, we have to sell out home here!
