We had quite an experience with the ducks last night, In our yard we have a 20x10 man made pond that of course the ducks love, they typically go from coop to pond and back again pretty much only straying away if I am out in the yard and they think im going to feed them, or if someone turns on the hose. Anyways, it was raining last night when I went out to do my rounds, the ducks were in the pond, they saw me coming with an umbrella and took off, gone. The little buggers ran off past their coop and into the woods. After assuming it was the umbrella that scared the heck out of them I left them for about half an hour, they still hadn't returned so I had to go out in the pouring rain, umbrella free, and lore them back out with treats. They are such boneheads sometimes.Yes, they are fence free. The ducklings go in themselves, usually pretty early. They are only four weeks old. Sometimes they stay out until everyone else goes in, but that is rare. The adult ducks... Sometimes I have to guide them in before I go to bed. They are really liking the warmer weather! I think the nightcrawlers probably have a lot to do with it too.![]()
