@Auroradream26 All 4 Of the pullets I got from you are laying now. I like the colors. The "white" egg is from an Ancona duck.

They look great! Glad you like the colors :) that one in the corner is really olive lol

I didn't know how you got a stock more than a broth (you had shared some). Pressure cooking got that darker color like yours. I will be doing that from now on.

:thumbsup

I'm glad it worked...I have never processed duck, but I didn't think it would be too much different than chicken.
The pressure cooker is great for making the broths, I like it for my beef broth in particular, the beef flavor is great with it and the bone broth actually gels due to the gelatin from the bones.

Doors can be sourced at many price points, and don't needto be fancy to work. Watch Craigs list and Pennswoods.net for free or cheap metal or composite entry doors. We got our coop man door free when someone remodelled a basement entrance and replaced their door. Just build a wood frame for it to attach to and add a safety chain mechanism or a dead bolt type latch.

You can buy the dog kennel pieces separately at Lowes and TSC, the 'door panel' side would be about $125 probably, though you can find them on the sale boards also at about $150- $175 for a whole kennel. We have used pieces and parts of dog kennels for multiple chicken applications.

You can also buy chain link gates in various sizes at Lowes and TSC type stores, build your fence wall and leave a frame sized for your gate and just ad it in.

And building your own custom sized is actually much easier than it may sound. We buy pressure treated 2x4s and rip them lengthwise (if you can find pressure treated 2x2s that makes it even easier., use screws to hold the corners together and scrap plywood can be used to reinforce the corners, at least one cross brace across through the center is needed, sometimes 2 if it is a tall door. Add a latch and wire cover of your choice and hang it in a frame in your cage wall.

really good advice as always

Great news! I found the missing chick!
Terrible news. It was dead. But I am glad I found it.
It had fallen or jumped into one of those party tubs, and it had been filled with rainwater. :th So sorry it died like that. :(

:hugs

Yes indeed! Thank you @fisherlady. & @Auroradream26. I will be bookmarking this for later.

Well, it's 5 am and I am wide awake. I am so ready for this day! Settlement is here! :weee

I will try to post some pictures when I am done. If I can still stand after all of our moving yesterday and today... Almost time to get my crooks back.

I am thinking *crooks* is just a typo, though very appropriate for most of our birds!
