I put these in with the big girls at 4 weeks, worked out really well. Five hatched - all girls!
The app I use to keep track of eggs also keeps track of the flock. I needed to add the SPR pair and the two ducks that are now named. I took a bunch of photos to use for their profiles this morning, and I got one of the turkey. Duckling can say, "Sabrina' because of the old show. Well... The turkey now has a name. If she ends up staying for real, there is one singer named Sabrina that I found. All flock members are named after singers. Sabrina seems safe. I won't feel guilt if I end up eating her. If she really stays, she will get a last name.
What's the name of the app that you use if you don't mind? Is it poultry pal? I used to use that one then got frustrated with it when it deleted all my bird profiles lol. That was about 2 years ago though. I should probably try it again.

welp, today..coop got cleaned..emptied it out completely, as it is receiving an overhaul.
Items that were accomplished....
*New roost was made & installed.
*Extra large gaps near roosting are were molded, this was done to reduce drafts while they are roosting.
*Had overlooked the security issue at the coops windows. If predators got into the run, they could have just tore the screens and got into the birds. Today welded wire was installed over the outside of the windows for added protection.
*New sand was added.
Things to be done by Thursday..
*New laying boxes built & installed
*Solar panel & lights reinstalled
*Coat of paint applied to 'wood' portion of interior
"To Do" before cold weather..
*Gutter & down spouting installed
*Perimeter of coop/run edged..rock added for sercurity & watre drainage
*New enclosure(s) made & installed for run..(.welded wire panels & extra gate at end)
Feeling good about what was finished today, if the body is able, tomorrow will be a full one also.
Some good news..the pressure canner is ready for pick up tomorrow!!
Hardest part will be opening the box and NOT starting into the canning "To Do " list!

Yes, she is around. The only person that has it more together than you. How did I get so lucky as to have you both in my life? Though she has come at two in the morning to remove a splinter for me.

I don't get cell service here to use those kinds of 'apps' from the phone...guess don't really miss what I don' t have.
This contraption is frustrating enough...I just write out or use this thing & print out for all the record keeping.
the birds were scattered to all areas of the coop this evening..they couldn't seem to get the whole.. "who goes where" down. ..There is PLENTY of room for them all & more...they just feel the need to have a "bubble" area around themselves.

They never appreciate it! Or at least they never admit it...though they always seem to take advantage of any improvements made. Ours are worse than a bunch of code enforcement inspectors when we are trying to work in the coop, DH says all they need is a little clip board and a hard hat with the way they inspect everything being done!
