Hope everyone is doing well....I'm feeling rather accomplished....5 of 6 adults went back for seconds on both the Turkey and stuffing....one of these years, I'll be growing my own.....

You guys should check out Www.bing.com today. They have a picture of an ocellated Guatemalan turkey. Gorgeous!

So, where do I get these gorgeous Guatemalan turkeys??? Pretty as a peacock but I can eat the offspring for thanksgiving!

Real question here (not that the first question isn't real, but I'm guessing they would be impossible to find here or ridiculously expensive)... We have a second Delaware hen from Meyer with a messed up leg now. Looks similar to the first chick that died in the first week, but not as bad. She is able to walk and get around well enough in the brooder that her leg wasn't noticed until now (she is also in there with 20+ other chicks). I think there were about 8 or 9 total Delaware chicks in the shipment and there were two with messed up legs. All other chicks have been fine, does this indicate poor breeding stock with their Delaware chickens? I'm definitely going to call or email them when I get home from break.

And, is there anything we can or should do for this chick? I think she's almost 5 weeks now and the way the leg is twisted, the ankle turns in and the foot out (same as my little chick that died). Bracing it like a splayed leg didn't really work for the little one bc the ankles needed to be held apart, not together. I do have a picture on my phone that I can add here in a bit. I'm hoping that it's not so bad that she can't live a normal life.

You did good! We had dinner at friends' house last evening, tonight is the holiday meal at our house...but the requested fare is 'fish fry'..... I allow a majority request rule and it was unanimous...so fish fry it is!

Don't forget the hushpuppies....mince some jalapeno peps...bass or Lake trout? Had a friend who saved his trout all year for a winter fish fry.....

X2! So much help and encouragement here! :hugs

For all those looking at those Guatemalan turkeys.....not going to happen....I have it on good authority they are all getting deported....lol....

Lol! :lau

Thread hogging time!

So I "heeled in" some poatatoes and garlic in a temporary raised bed I made real quick. Then I have these seeds that germinated because of the warm temps. I know they won't live or grow much, but I'm shocked the frost hasn't killed them yet. Looks like maybe sunflower seeds, or maybe something from the curcubit family?

Is this a turkey dancing? Curtsying? No, just streching!

Is that snow under the pine tree? Nope, just ,y little snowball silkies... :love. They got a pedicure this weekend. Boy were their nails long! A little dremel action took care of that!

My run would have been done if it were not for the shipping delay from the Walmart seller with the hardware cloth. It's been over a week, and it might be here Monday. :/

My chicken coop is insulated except for the one wall. It has some brackets on it that are stuck with flathead screws. Any idea on how to get them out? The chicken bags are from @Auroradream26. :D. They look purple in the picture, but they are just reflecting the light I have on the wall. The white is great for brigtening up the coop. I will use the pretty bags from MCC for something else, haven't decided what yet. Also modified the one roost so it has a poop board underneath it. Hopefully, they won't try to sleep on the poop board.
