I am ready to scream and start tearing off people's heads with my bare hands. We had to get lag screw like screws for framing the chicken coop and the stupid thing is stuck. My cordless drill broke, and it's so windy out there that it's killing Keith's head so he's not completely useful out there. I wanted to get **** done today anndd yeah no. I'm just hoping he can back that screw out before I get so far gone I get the axe.

Thank Gawd! cause I was on board (for real this time), and the last thing I need is another coop. I have a soft spot for Bantam Cochin chicks, they look like they're wearing footy pajamas

And....more info on the Cabinet please...is it that ginormous one that's been on Craig's list? Or are you getting another Dickey? I was on the fence about committing to a Dickey and I have a friend who is going to lend me a Sportsman, just so I can see if a cabinet is for me. I wonder if we could save on shipping if we got Dickeys at the same time?
I wanted partridge so I could work on an autosexing cochin bantam for my next project. I think instead I might get flocks of barred cochins and black frizzles, so I can make frizzled sexlinked cochins. One reason people avoid bantams is that they are always sold straight run. And I've always wanted to work with the frizzle gene.

I bought a used GQF 1502 Sportsman from a friend. When buying new, I think Dickeys are a much better deal, but if you can find used, that is almost always a better deal, especially when you factor in shipping, which generally adds about $100 to the price. These cabinet incubators are so big and heavy that they ship in multiple packages, so there are no savings on shipping if you get multiples.

Maybe your friend will let you keep the Sportsman for a few months, until you hatch everything you need.

Should I break my broody turkey or give her a few eggs to try to hatch? She seems determined, and I bet if I made her a nest, she might stay in one place. @dheltzel . Do you have any turkey eggs you'd be willing to sell me? I will be in Pottstown next week for lunch.

Strange, I got another membrane egg yesterday. I can't figure out who laid it! The only possible suspects would be an old Silkie hen, or a new broody momma. Both seem unlikely to me, but I can't figure out who it is, because the others seemed to have all laid eggs.

My turkeys haven't started laying yet. I keep looking for eggs. I'm getting a few peafowl eggs. Incubating them, but the early ones are usually not fertile, though the peacocks are trying very hard to impress the peahens.

I was gonna offer to come help, but if there are axes involved, I'm out.
