Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Looking like next Friday will work well, though if you get 6 this Friday I can do that also. Brownie won't care as long as she gets chicks.

If you need to borrow a cage i can spare a dog crate that may work for the turkeys.

Ok sounds good. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks for the offer on the cage but I think I'll just give them a couple chicks and let them raise them for a few days (maybe longer, depending on how they do). That's how I broke my turkey broody last year. NOTHING worked on her last year and she lost a scary amount of weight :/

He is keeping me busy! The kids are debating changing his name to Zeus. I've committed the Cardinal Sin of letting him in the house. All that training I read up on before getting Bella went right out the window.

How could you not let him in the house?
If he were ours, I'm pretty sure he would be wherever he wanted to be. No one can be expected to be firm in the face of such cuteness.

Thanks everyone she worked so hard. She also has her championship soccer game this Sat which she is the starter goaly for so she's pretty happy to have an academic and sports feather in her hat! Really stinks going from 8 Muscovies to 5 in two days but the boys will be happy where they are and hubby said I can keep more of the babies we have coming. @Blarneyeggs your pup is adorable! And @MotorcycleChick I have a few more questions on FF. How long can I store it after the three days and what's the best way? I'm having a hard time figuring out how much I need and being able to have enough to make it till next batch. The ducks took to it much faster than I thought. Is like to make enough for a week at a time. I swear my coop smells better already and I'm hoping it'll help with some feather issues I'm having. Planning on taking pics today to get opinions on what's happening. Thanks!
Oh and here are some of my babies! Almost 6weeks now.

awwwww he is huge!!! how is bella taking to him?

Ok all...time to put your 'neighborly abilities' to the test.
We are looking for 1 or 2 new silkie roosters. We need to watch our genetics and I would like to find new blood for the pen. I have a list of 'needs' and since these are hobby birds I don't need to be in a huge rush about it.
-We want at least one to be a blue/black/splash, the second could be about any color.
-I strongly prefer the rather clean faced ones, I want to be able to see their eyes and prefer the clean faced look especially since they may free range on decent weather days
-although we don't show I prefer to find show quality boys to keep a nice pen and to allow chicks to be 4-H projects if any local kids are interested. I think of the term 'show quality' more as a way to avoid major faults on a bird rather than something I expect to go out and show. I have just found so many hatchery birds aren't bred to breed standards anymore.
-I prefer they be younger (nothing over about 8 or 9 months), so just new to crowing would be great.
-we don't want 'teacup' sized, they should be, at minimum, an average sized banty. Most eggs get eaten here, so no need for teeny tiny hens and tiny eggs. And since the future hens will be broodies we want them to be able to handle more than 2 or 3 eggs.

If you know of any quality breeders who have extra boys who just don't quite meet their needs let me know. I am willing to drive for the right birds.
@Sally Sunshine.... tagging you since you see so many folks with different breeds on the hatching threads
