Awe! Sounds adorable! Guesses on sex?

Not quite sure. Little thing was still a little wet. I'll get a picture later on and you guys can take a guess. I also hatched a rather unique silkie chick yesterday. I should only be getting blue and splash from them and this one looks like a splash but has a big colored patch on her head. I'll take a picture of her later too

We had a great day out at the Gray's Small Animal Auction, Special Spring Saturday Event yesterday. It's at the Roots Market in Manheim that's regularly every Tuesday.

They accept animals from 6am and the auctions are scheduled to start at 930am but actually started at 10. I think because there were so many animals.

There was also a side auction for farm equipment and auctions for food in another building.

We took along one of the chicks we hatched on New Year that turned out to be a cockerel. He is an Araucana so we were not worried about someone buying him for meat. They don't have any meat on them. Here's a video of how the day went:

I'm glad you had a good time. I wouldn't be able to go to one of those for the way they treat the animals, though. :(

Yes I was surprised to see a lot of rough treatment going on! I will not be doing it, but I wasn't aware it's possible to snap a chickens wings back in order to carry it, looks painful but the chickens seem quite calm.

@fisherlady hatch is over. 2 developed of the dozen, only 1 hatched. Snugly little bugger though! I swear, even your chicks demand to be mothered!

I hope it is the rooster you wanted...I think the problem in the SPR pen is the older hens. I kept them in there due to their broodiness but will need to swap them out for the younger ones.

Have to show them off again. So happy with the mix!

Been working on training the pup and he's doing well. It is tedious to say the least to ALWAYS keep right on top of him when the birds are out. But it will be worth it in the end. ETA: the second pic is exactly what I want him to look like when he is around any of the animals. He is supposed to be 'on guard'. It is a natural behavior to go into 'play stance' around the birds and goats, but that gets a firm 'No.' from me, every single time. This breed is so sensitive, that getting their feelings hurt from hearing 'No' goes a long way in training. It has backfired with Bella. We brought the pup home at night, it was dark and she approached with aggression. She got a clear loud 'NO' and I covered him with my body. She has not once been aggressive toward him since. She even lets him steal her treats, the problem is...he tortures her. He is for ever chewing on her tail, legs, ect...and she comes to me with a pathetic look on her face. I wish she'd give him a good nip and put him in his place.

He's so cute! I hope the training goes better, it can be trying for sure.

The other box of babies never showed up.

That's just so terrible.

Have to show them off again. So happy with the mix!

I'm glad you have some happiness with your new peeps!

So some sad news. On Friday, I heard a commotion, and discovered later that one of my turkey poults had been taken. I'm pretty sure it was the neighbors cat. I'm so annoyed.. My chickens occasionally walk into her backyard, but I know I have seen her cat sneaking off of my property before. I just texted her and asked if she could put a bell on the cats collar.

My broody Cinnamon (wisely) won't bring her babies out of the coop, which is a shame since it's such a beautiful day.

The other turkey was so lonely, so I decided to have the lady pick it up that was going to buy both. Then the Mama turkey called the baby for 10 minutes. Poor thing. Maybe she will adopt the other babies once they hatch in about 10 days. :)

I'm so sorry. We used to have problems with a neighborhood cat as well. Nothing like hearing a Mama calling for her baby to break your heart wide open.
