I am sorry this is happening...I think you are doing what you can and only other suggestion is to sniff check the food closely because I though crop impaction can definitely happen moldy or musty food can cause catastrophic illness also. If their crops remain hard after no food for multiple hours though I would stick with the impacted crop theory.

Thanks! It was a batch of FF I had just mixed up from a new bag of feed which is why he thought it was the right one... even though I told him otherwise :he pretty much all of them had emptied crops now. Just put in some very watered down chick crumbles so I could watch them all run around. Everyone looks okay but today is my only day off for next two weeks so I'll be watching like a hawk. I do have one turkey that looks like it has a weak left side. Up walking and eating but seems lopsided with wing extended a bit. Not sure if I should be worried about it.

Oh no I'm so sorry that this happened. I hope the rest will be okay :hugs

h when I came home from work last night I found 5 chicks dead. My hubby has been out of town and I had to work almost 24 hours between Sat and Sun so kids had to take care of them. They are very responsible but my son gave them the food I use for my adults. I always give chick grit but I don't think they had enough to handle it. Now I'm trying to massage crops after another 3 chicks died with more looking rough. I took all the food away tonight when I realized and added more grit and a little coconut oil to water. Hoping I don't loose everyone. Not sure what else to do.

That's terrible, so sorry you are dealing with this. I can't help, but I hope you get it resolved soon.

I lost 3 of my meaties last night :/ I thought they were ready and turned off the heat lamp yesterday. I guess that wasn't very smart. The 3 I lost got smothered.

I'm sorry, that sucks...they do tend to pile up, though I don't really understand why when they are little heat generators, and they arent very bright, and are clutzy when laying down, We kept a heat lamp in with them for quite a while to keep the klutz ones spread out. When everyone avoided the 'heat zone' for a couple of days we pulled it, but would plug it back in if temps changed much. There is just no foolproof way to deal with them...

Even new feed bags can be bad from the store, so still check it to be sure...we got one from TSC last year which was bad from the shelf, the company replaced it with coupons sent.
