Good morning everyone! It looks like it might be a beautiful day today! Hubby and I are heading out in a few minutes to butcher 2 of our older CX boys. They're just SO big that there's no chance they'll be able to breed. I'll try to get a picture of them after processing. That leaves 1 roo and 2 pullets left to try to breed.

The younger meaties are spending the day out in the tractor. It's funny watching them learn to run around and play in the grass lol.

The geese are getting huge but still follow us around the yard. They've become protective of "their" things and areas lately but usually only chase away the other flock members and dogs. They're going to have to move to the coop at night very soon. Maybe tonight. They do seem to like the ducks though and will hang out with them a little here and there.

Hope everyone gets out and enjoys this gorgeous day!

Oh, and I MAY be placing an order for some poults from Porter's this weekend since they're on sale. They would be experimental colors from their experiment pens if anyone is iterested in adding on to the order....

Ooo, that's tempting about the turkeys, but I suspect I will have enough once these guys grow up. What kind of roosts do you have for your turkeys? Any chance you could take a picture? I need to change my roost and I think I should create some ramps to make it easier for the chickens and turkeys.

I'm so glad for the hot weather coming, we got our pool set up and filled.

Several of my Meaties still have the puffy eye thing, but I am going to persevere and treat all of them every night with the Vetrx to see if that will clear it up. I just got them the broiler feed today, I had been letting them have the chick starter and the higher protein turkey feed. Next time I do a set of meaties, I will definitely separate them so that I can have more control of their food supply.

I'm so excited a friend and his Dad are going to help me through processing these guys. With 3 people, I figure we can get them all done in a day. They have processed before and are looking forward to it. Now I am too! I will be processing the one rooster that I hatched from incubator also, hopefully. He should be a decent size by then.

I have a female khaki campbell, I am in schuylkill county. Her friend was killed, so she is the only duck I have, she Currently hangs out with the chickens, she is about a year old. I would be willing to rehome her to you if you would be interested, i would love her to have a home with duck friends

Sorry about her friend, what happened? I'll consult my sister about it, how old is she?

The two boys we butchered today dressed out around about 9 lbs and 11 lbs. They were big boys! The one had a nice red belly. I'm assuming from flopping down on it but I'm surprised the bigger one didn't have the red belly. No, he had a bruised wing tip. Not sure what that's from. Even the small one couldn't even attempt to be squeezed in to a gallon zip lock bag so I had to put the wings and legs in one and force the zipper shut on the one holding the rest lol. The other barely fit in a 9 x 13 dish but I got it in there and plastic wrapped it. Roasting that baby on Monday!

@AnneInTheBurbs , My turkeys have a 2 x 6 on it's side to roost on and they used to love it. Then they realized that they could fly up to the rafters and roost there instead :/ They have no ramps to get up anywhere, they fly up wherever they want to be. I think I will be putting up chicken wire to block off the rafters. When they sleep up there, they poop everywhere and their coop is such a huge mess. Under the roost that I made them, There's a perfectly good poop board.

I used to have pictures of them on here but since the site switched up, all my old uploaded pictures are nowhere to be found and that option to upload previously uploaded pictures is gone. I used to love that feature. Sadly, most of those pictures are lost forever since hubby accidentally copied over my camera's SD card :(
