I am so happy we got the turkeys. I should be annoyed they like my husband more but he likes it so much I can't. He spent all day transforming an old part of a barn into the perfect turkey house while our 7 babies followed him back and forth across the yard. It was hilarious.
Chickens are "gateway poultry" to turkeys. Once you have a turkey as a pet, no other poultry is going to make you feel as good as that pet turkey. I have some bantam hens that are close, but still find the flock of turkeys the most fun to hang out with.

Our 14-year-old dog passed away last morning, two hours shy of his euthanasia appointment. We're building him a box today and we'll bury him soon, next to the dog we lost last year. Dad was his favorite, so it's hardest on him. Dad's mom is also very sad, more than I expected.
We went through this a few months back. It's truly a very sad time for everyone. A dog is such an integral part of a family it is proper to mourn them as such. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

We have 12 right now, 5 one week olds, and had planned on a flock of about 6 and selling the rest. But I'm pretty sure my hubby wants to keep everyone now lol

My turkeys are outside right new screaming for me. I have to get some cleaning done today! Haha.

@dheltzel. Any idea what kind of chick this is? She is gorgeous, and she came from some of the eggs that you and @Auroradream26 gave me to put under broodies. Is it possible I got a penciled rock?

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that our dear 'Stake' -Tom Egan is gone. I heard from his father today (we grew up in the same small town -Ridley Park, PA). He passed from Lung Cancer last Monday. Those of you that don't know him- We, here on the PA Thread, were family to him. He never married and had no children, his animals were his children. His profile pic is of a rescue dog that passed years ago and that he still agonized over loosing. He spent hours with his birds, knew each and everyone of them and their quirks intimately. He made the BEST Hard Cider you've ever tasted -MotorcycleChick and I can attest to that. He was extremely humble, NEVER giving advice without making sure that he did not offend by ending with 'my two cents' and I will miss him fiercely.

True to form, looking through his last posts here - ALL were responding to someone with a question or concern, offering help or his 'two cents' of advice. I wish there were more like him.

I forget, what ask eggs did I send you? (Color wise). Definitely looks penciled but maybe bearded too?

Oh no! He will be terribly missed :( He was always a fountain of good advice and when our dog passed away in February, he messaged me to comfort me and talk about his rescue dog. I for one will miss hearing his "two cents" of advice :(

OMG! I didn't even know he was sick, though it is not surprising he didn't say anything here...I wish I had known. He will be terribly missed! I'm not even sure there is a 'right thing to say'. Thank you so much for letting us know and if you are in contact with his Dad please pass along our thoughts, he was helpful and special to many of us here and his love of animals was so obvious...

To all of you who knew him, I'm sorry . I wish I'd had more opportunity to have gotten to know him. I had seen him only a handful of times on here.
