Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I spent a little time at 'Stakes' place today along with MsLadyHawk. We helped straighten the basement and garage a bit and we adopted a beautiful black Ameraucana Rooster. They still have a Trio of CCL (one is laying brown) that they would like to go together -all of his other hens and pullets are gone. They also have a CCL Cockerel and another cockerel that I'm not sure of the breed. They all look happy and healthy. Please PM me if you are interested in either a cockerel or a trio.

I'm so sad to hear of Stake's passing... I had to go back a bit to find the post since I often miss weeks at a time on here. I didn't even know he was ill. :-( I hadn't met him in person, but he was always very helpful on here.

They are so cute!!! That large egg is the second one today that I've seen that looks purple!! Who laid that?

The big one is from our New Hampshire Red. She never goes broody, great temperament and laid 80 eggs in the last 3 months. She's our best chicken!

Very bittersweet to be there without him around. Hope someone can adopt the CCL trio or one of the 2 remaining cockerels. :(

Spoiled ducklings!!
aka "Lucky ducks"
I'm glad you got them.
Me too! And I've already named the older ones I picked up. Our black sexlink is Eartha (After Eartha Kit) and our Olive Egger is Sophia (after Sophia Loren) so far Sophia is a bit shy with the others and actually hopped on my shoe and politely asked for some lap time with me. It was so sweet, I think she's turning into a mama's girl. If she doesn't fit in eventually with the flock, worst case scenario, she can come inside and be a house chicken. But hopefully that won't happen. Eartha on the other hand already stood up to the older hens and has established herself as part of Klaus and Charlie's "flock"

Both of those behaviors seem consistent with what I would consider "normal" for those breeds. Sophia will fit in quite well in a few more days, OE's are of much stronger constitution that they look outwardly. Seems like they get that from their Welbar father, which is larger than the Legbar roos and doesn't get pushed around much. Hybridization gives them an extra edge. She is still quite young and new to the flock, but once she gets her bearings, I think she will be right in the middle of the flock.
