Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

In the near future we’ll be looking to rehome 2 of our cockerel’s. Our chicks are currently 8 weeks and once grown we will only be keeping one male. We are in the Gettysburg area. We would love for them to go to loving homes, we wish we could keep all of them but 4 males & 2 females doesn’t really work too well. If you are looking for an awesome rooster, let me know!

We just got two ducklings. I worry about them in the 2nd building in the cold. And chickens definitely need heat more so than ducklings. I’m not comfortable leaving a heat lamp on during the day while we both work. So I don’t want to get more chicks right now. I would rather do it in the Spring when the weather is warmer and I have less to worry about them freezing over there. And I can’t have them in the house because my dogs will eat them!

:pop Take them to work.

I am only half serious about this stuff. I know cold weather incubating is not desirable. Although, a brooder placed inside a larger dog crate will keep the dogs away. As will brooding in a bathroom.

My dog is iffy. Regardless, he doesn’t seem to care about the brooders. I’m incubating now.

My dogs will eat through a door to get to them especially we’re not home. If I was home all the time I would totally do it in my house. But my one dog has broken out of my house twice. She is now in a super high tech crate. But my other two are free during the day, and one of those is obsessed with ducks. She almost ate my female Muscovy.

TMI :sick but I need some advice. One of my chickens has something white dangling from her butt. I immediately freaked thinking it was tapeworm so now I'm worming them all with safe-guard. (Does safe-guard kill tapeworm? Couldn't find any info on it). Today is the second day and it's still there, so what do I do? Only thing I can think of is giving her a warm bath, hoping it'll come out easier? I tried tugging but it wouldn't move and obviously hurts her. I looked up prolapse and it doesn't look like that. This year has just been the worst with sick chickens and crap! :hit
