TMI :sick but I need some advice. One of my chickens has something white dangling from her butt. I immediately freaked thinking it was tapeworm so now I'm worming them all with safe-guard. (Does safe-guard kill tapeworm? Couldn't find any info on it). Today is the second day and it's still there, so what do I do? Only thing I can think of is giving her a warm bath, hoping it'll come out easier? I tried tugging but it wouldn't move and obviously hurts her. I looked up prolapse and it doesn't look like that. This year has just been the worst with sick chickens and crap! :hit

Sorry so late... I would give her a warm soak and use a lubes finger to gently feel inside the vent to see if an obstruction or pieces of eggshell are present. I have seen soft eggs rupture and their shells are often whitish in appearance and rubbery textured.

I gave her a warm bath yesterday for about 1/2 hour and then pulled on the "string" but it was still rather stuck and broke off. I tried to feel inside but she's a rather small chicken and I couldn't get in there. She's still pooping but it's runny. She tries to poop out that stuff but it's not coming out. So now IDK what to do... :(

I would start a thread in the emergencies section to get help from the pros.

It’s in the cattle area of the feed stores.

I I am in NW Pa living on 35acres. We retired early and started a hobby farm...it’s been great! We have an S shaped pond for our last name..and the 43ducks just love it..we. Have. 19 Chickens and a rooster one goose, 30 rabbits, 3 goats, 2 pigs and 3 dogs..it’s our piece of heaven up here ...which is ironic because I grew up south of Pgh, very fancy girl..never thought I’d end up a farmer, but it was the thing for us!

Next week sometime I will be rehoming 4 of my ducks to a friend. So my duck flock will go from 18 to 14. I am fine with that. 9 chicks that hatched out week ago are doing good. Growing nicely. I will try and get picture tomorrow. The baby bunnies are growing nicely too. And the 3 kittens that I am bottle feeding are doing good. I maybe getting another dog. Need to talk to hubby more on getting it. This dog tho will stay with out the goats.
