Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I may be interested in a Cream Legbar, Welbar, or Breda. Actually, several. Jaebels and Rory are laying now but Lavern and Shirley, the young Ameracaunas, are slackers so far this year. And I have the 2 older girls also.

My blue egg laying silkie project girls are laying great right now. About another week to go before I start collecting their eggs to hatch. I'm excited to see how the F2 turn out :) All the other chicken groups are slacking. Turkeys are stepping it up and i might have a broody already! They need to work on fertility though. I think my toms are arguing over breeding rights

Let the madness begin... (again)

7 SPR hens got their first chicks tonight. Will let them sit in their boxes overnight to begin adjusting to 'mommy mode' and move them tomorrow to floor boxes. 6 in one pen, one by herself in another.

Today is grafting day for the hens. Chicks have been hatching in the incubator, moved to the dark Brinsea box with the feather pads until they are sturdy, then they are ready for the transfer to hens.
Hens each got 1 chick last night to encourage them to switch over to mama mode. We checked overnight and it seems to have worked. This morning they were happily clucking to their chicks so I moved them all to floor boxes in broody areas of the coop.
As they settle in I will move more chicks out to them from the Brinsea box.
Hoping for more cute family pics later, for now they are a firmly planted in their boxes....
