Successful reintegration! Hero is home at last and comforting his ladies. I only let 1 “extra” roo in at a time so they could work out their dominance issues. Danny engaged first and willingly broke away without injury, landing the #2 spot. Zonk came next, and despite his splayed legs showed surprising strength, speed, and agility. But my boy Hero is #1, and after he opened up a bleeder in Zonk’s leg I called the fight and separated them. Zonk will be ok I think, I’ll check the wound again in an hour or so and if it’s still bleeding I’ll get some sealant. It doesn’t look serious, and he’s walking, though a little stiffly. All part of keeping roosters I guess. Don’t know what I’d do without them! ❤

I have to look up Breda Fowl. I have ebay call duck eggs in the incubator, so I don't want to have 1 lonely duck if all fails.
If the Calls don't hatch (hear they can be hard to hatch), I have Australian Spotted ducks that are almost as small and much better layers than Call ducks. I am getting some eggs now, but will have loads in a month or 2.

Hey, I've got baby Parakeets if anyone wants some of them. They can be hand fed if you want them soon, or the parents will finish raising them until they can fend for themselves. Parents are wonderful with the babies.

First chick of the season is pipping now. It is from my Lavender Marans pen. Not sure until it hatches whether it is from the lavender pullet or the BCM pullets I put in there to make splits.

I have seen them on the livestock conservancy website only recently!
They are still quite rare, because few have heard of them and seek them out. Also rare are Mini Silver Appleyards. I have pair of them and so far like them a lot. I don't have Calls. When I wanted bantam ducks, I thought I'd invest in a hard-to-find breed and make them more available. They certainly reproduce well, I have about 50 now, mostly females, that should be coming into lay this spring. I sell their eggs for $3 doz to eat and they are very popular as they are exactly the size of a chicken egg. My Welsh Harlequins lay super size eggs that are hard to get into cartons to sell, I separate all the XL and jumbo cartons just for them, but the bantam duck eggs are a perfect size for eating and selling, no recipe adjustments needed.
