I still have a successful flock of the silkie feathered ameraucanas. They were the support for my blue egg laying silkie project that I've been working on :) In the process, I found the picture of @TillyPeeps pullet's grandma. She's the one with her head up and eyes closed in ecstasy lol

you should send the last picture for the byc calendar. She looks amazing in the picture. Candy still loves to spend cuddle time with me everyday. Are these lavender ameraucanas as friendly as the black ones?

Dennis, both Boo and Dragon turned out to be Oliver eggers. Boo just laid her first egg today and it’s green too. They looks very similar and are different from Winnie-the-Pooh the legbar. Left to right: Boo, Dragon, and Winnie-the-Pooh. Is that possible your Welbar roo had affaire with legbars?:gig

I did enter that one actually :) If they're handled a lot then yes, the lavenders can be just as friendly as the black ones :)

Lavenders and blacks are interbred to give the lavenders more vigor, so they are essentially identical in personality and most other traits. The blacks have better feather integrity and are easier to sex at a younger age. The silkied Ameraucanas are darn near impossible to sex before they crow. Overall size and size of their combs are the only thing you can go by. That is generally true of silkie bantams also, they take a long time to be sexable.
