Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Has been busy here. We kept a pup from September's transport until his new forever home was ready in the south east. Last week I took him to his new family. Very bittersweet to make that delivery. :hit
Getting my transport business more organized and looking to set up more regular transports now. I have a FB business page. Look up Keystone Small Animal Transport and it should come up. I am still learning to navigate the FB world but I am posting maps of routes as I set them up.
A few recent pictures... Bruce, Rappahannock River boat ramp in Port Royal Va (an awesome river to fish if you ever get the chance), Bruce chilling out on a trip with us, a favorite SPR mix rooster and a run of soup canning. I do Chicken Noodle base (no noodles base mix) and French Onion.

It’s quiet here recently. We need to see Mindy’s broody pictures:love

My Orpington is having a hard molt. No feathers on her butt! Only pink skins. I don’t know if I should put something to protect her skin from drying out? Also debating if I should turn on the sweet coop heater? I usually only turn it on when it’s under 10 degrees.

I will have to get some new pics of Mindy! If the hen is extra bald you can certainly offer them extra heat option but I don't think the birds really need extra heat with weather above 40* (unless coop is exposed to wind) but definitely could use some nutritional supplements. I give them high protein treats during molt like tuna, egg yolks, sunflower seeds and similar.

You should definitely take pictures of her and enter her in to the worst molt contest that's going on right now! One of my Orpington girls had a hard molt this year too. She was nothing but pin feathers for a while! Here's the link to the contest: BYC Worst molt contest

This is her. I give them meat with no salt, extra mealworms, and cat food now. They should have enough protein. I never had chicken in such a hard molting. It looks like next a few days not too cold, hopefully she will be ok.

Hey there @LittleMissPurdy !! So glad to see you stop in. I miss you! Hope your back yard gardening treated you well this year!
:) Hello there to you too.
Yes, it did treat us very well. Getting ready for the big chill to come and put us inside for good. We are enjoying these warmer days though.
Great pup pics Fisher!
I like to just lookey-loo from time to time, see what's-what, you know.
Kinda looking for some Orphington pullets, not the right time, I know, but keeping our eyes out.
Peaky Beaky has retired from their Wyandotte breeding bizz., so disappointing!!
We LOVED their girls! Her BLR are the best, JMHO...but when your done, your done.
I totally get that!
Nice to see a bunch of you all still here.
Be poppin in from time to time, just very busy..life.
Always- Danielle

Update on the Orphington looking,
we would also consider chicks, BUT..not until spring.
Just don't want to deal with littles in the cold right now.
Also, not one of our girls has had any sign of broodiness, so I'm not going to rattle that cage!:fl:D
If anyone knows of someone or has any of these fine birds, let me know.
Thank you.
**I know Martha (Blarney), did breed them, but not sure of her current situation. Been out of the "loop" for awhile.
