Thanks! It was for the best, I suspect she had egg yolk peritonitis and probably wouldn't resume laying so I was trying to decide if I should cull her...first time I had to and wasn't sure I was up to it! Not so much an attachment thing, more of a "makes me cringe just thinking about it" thing!

You are a good chicken mama.

Thanks Trish! The babies are moving out today! The new coop is ready and so are they, spending more time sitting on the edge of the brooder box than in it! Can't wait to watch them run around in their new house, I will post some pics later! Enjoy the rainfree day today!

Anyone in/around the Beaver County area with hens to sell? Maran, barred rock, buff orpington, or a light brahma? My new coop/run can handle more. Might have to wait until spring but thought I'd ask around in the meantime!

Hey All -
I'm posting this here b/c I know there are occasional discussions about our buy-sell-trades at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in SW PA. You will not want to miss the one this Sunday, 10/16. That's the day of our Fall Show (really a 2-day show, but all the goodness is really on Sunday).

There will be tons of poultry on display in the Poultry Building, plus special concession stand items (not just hot dogs and donuts!). There is a "Chinese Auction" in the Poultry Building, featuring poultry supplies, books, hatchery gift certificates, and even some puzzles, games, and prize-filled jack-o-lanterns for the kids! Our club mascot, "Big Chicken" will be strolling the grounds, giving out hugs, high-fives, and candy, as well as posing for pictures. And of course, our huge buy-sell-trade will be going on outside the show hall.

Enjoy the show and buy-sell-trade for the regular admission price of $2 per car. A great family event, and as always, lots of free parking.

Hope to see you there!
