Quote: Yes, straw is fine. The wood chips are discouraged because of how they work. They say they are hard to get out of the sand too, but depending on your scoop, they should come out fine. If you missed my post a month ago, you can zip tie 1/4" hardware cloth to a pitch fork, and it becomes a huge litter scoop.
As far as removing the sand, some people don't remove it annually. It depends on how it looks/smells. If you are getting all (or most) of the poop out, you can possibly not have to change it. I won't say "ever", but the article said it had been a few years.
Anyone want a dog that just peed all over my bed? I stopped long enough to take care of the problem, so "just" is relative.I know it was an accident (he seemed really freaked out when it was happening) but I am tired. Re-making a bed is not what I want to do. Dealing with the sheets and comforter (I threw them in the tub for tonight) is not something I am looking forward to either.![]()
So... I got a chicken magazine, freeze dried worms, a TSC gift card, 4 bags of feed, and 2 dozen new egg cartons for Christmas. Well... pajamas too. So I can be snuggly warm while I am in the coop!
Anyone else get more chicken related gifts than personal?![]()
I forget who asked, but dogfood is okay for the chickens. I see more things on "no cat food" than no dogfood on this site.
Get OUT! The dropped egg hatched, so happy for you!! And just so ya know, MsLadyHawke's Calico Silkie has been looking good.2 more babies out! Calico silkies, including the one I dropped last week!
My runs are covered, but still get wet. And yes, drainage is an issue!
We had about 8" of snow by dinner time. I tried to cover the run better so they could be out a little tomorrow.
My husband said we could go to the farm show, but now he has been taking his mother back and forth to Pitt for tests and procedures, so I am doubting he'll feel like going now ): chances are she'll be having surgery.around then, so I guess I will have to try next year.
Oh no, sorry about your MIL.
