Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I'm in Bucks County too, Feasterville. I'm getting my first chickens in April. I want to connect with other local chicken owners. Please let me know if you want to connect. Thanks.

I got the feed from the farmer yesterday. He is quite old, and hasn't been remembering to put protein in the feed. I am told it is fine for pigs, but for the chickens it is just scratch.
It contains:
Corn
Oats
Vitamins
and calcium (I don't remember what he said it was exactly).
It is an eighty pound bag. I went to the feed store, and I now have 50# of soy meal.
So... How much soy do I add to the 80# bag to make it right for the chickens?

400

Finally got our Farm Name!!! Fall View. Now I can get started!

Love the name! Woohoo now bring on the babies ;)

No cats, father in law does not like them....we probably would not have the mice we do if there was more cats around ....this one is a rat though,,,,mice I can deal with, this rat, I will not rest till he is hanging from his tail......mice are not much of a problem, the chickens take care of them....

need some non poisonous suggestions on this rat.????

But pet rats are the best pets for young kids! Loved mine I had if you can get past the tail and that they are rats they are so much better then a hamster, Guinea pig or any other small animal! Gonna be my girls first pets when they ask for something inside!

We're going to start construction on an 8x16' chicken shed next week. The back wall will be 5' and the front will be 6-7' tall. I'm 5'3" tall and wanted a coop that I can walk in. I'm also planning a 300sq ft run. I'm planning poop shelves with PDZ. Any suggestions before we start?

Also, does anyone have an opinion on metal vs plastic feeders and waterers?

Thanks :)

Hi! You're really close! How many chickens do you have, and how long have you had them?

Watch out for Rose - she is an A+ enabler!

Feasterville, my wife's family is from there, although they have all moved away now. I spent many years just north of there in Washington's Crossing. I am in Chester County now.
