So curious!

Does anyone do or know anyone who does guineas? A friend is looking for either keets or eggs (that I will have to incubate). I don't want to have either shipped so it they would need to be within an hour or so of York.
Ray in Pa
Which Ray is that, LeBlackBird? Is he on here often enough that he will see this or will I have to send him a message?

Sorry, I'm still so new here that I have no clue who breeds what.

EVERYONE should own at least ONE Emu!!

I just want to eat one. Ray told me I am insane!
does anyone here grow mushrooms.??? they cost way to much and i buy them every week,,,,how to get started growing them would be helpful....i have looked at the kits for sale but they seem just as pricey..
I am starting to

Central PA, Union County, near Mifflinburg. I have 6 barred rocks and 4 silver laced wyandottes. Have 6 partridge rocks and 6 golden laced wyandottes coming in May.
Welcome!
Yeah.......I only am going to have two or three banty hens max........and am figuring on a run added to it........
So you say now...give it a month....we'll talk you into 3 of EVERYTHING!
Ok folks in Centre County. I want these cluckers to go outside soon! They are 4 weeks old. How much longer should I wait? As you all know it is still unpleasantly cold. I can easily put their heat lamp out there and it won't be drafty. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize them but they are starting to out grow the brooder. Any suggestions?
Mine go outside at anywhere from 4-6 weeks...closer to 4 now that all the big ones are out there now to provide heat.
WEEELLLPPP... My extreme exhaustion has led to yet another claim of turkey eggs, bidding on some MF D'Uccle eggs (I only have a pair right now), and BINing some silkied duck eggs. Yup. I should get off of here and go to bed before I buy emus or something.
Silkied ducks???????
Everyone has emu on the brain I love it! I want one for three or five maybe. Breakfast for a family of 4 in an egg. Or take one and hard boil it and take one hard boiled egg deviled to a summer picnic lol
LMAO...I'd totally do the deviled egg thing....can see it now!
Lol. The only problem I have with eating blue eggs is that I'd rather hatch them!
The blue and green eggs beaglady gave me were SOOOO hard to give away!

I have a friend who has them...don't know if he has any boys though...will check with him.

Wasn't someone (besides me) supposed to be putting together a list of who has what??
EVERYONE should own at least ONE Emu!! :D
Can we keep them at your place?

We got one of the kits for the kids...the one side kept producing, we never turned it over to the other side.
Imagine this with 2 windows and a finished roof! Still needs a door.
Looks awesome!
You know what, better yet, I would love a box of chocolate runner ducklings!
Chocolate ducklings...I'd be in BIG trouble.

Well, we decided the brooder needed to expand since these meaties and giants grow pretty fast... so we pulled out the second $5 playpen and went to work. We planned to keep the original playpen as a 'sleeping/drinking' area, and use the second one for scratching and eating. We kept the food and water on oposite ends to make sure the birds couldn't eat/drink and sleep without moving more than a foot! LOL. These little buggers will do that if given a chance.

So first we laid out our plan, finally settled on making a false floor to set the pan down into, and used a plastic mud runner from WalMart to act as a surround to prevent everything from getting flung out onto the floor.

2x6s on edge to act as false floor support
Rubber tub 18"x24"x 6" deep, found at Lowes, supposed to be a cement bin... cost $6
Plywood in place, with cutout for tub to drop into
Tub in place
Runner cut to size and stapled in place, note where we cut out one rung to allow for 'doorway' to other playpen
Simple frame for cover, held down with the always helpful bungy cord
Feed/scratch pan pen under window, 'bedroom' pen in front, note doorway now framed with cardboard to make sure little claws don't get caught.
Overhead view of set up area, they have been taking turns scratching in the tub, 2x4 chunk placed to allow an easier
step out for some of the heavier and shorter legged chicks.
Simple frame lid on second playpen finished, we did drape the flannel sheet over the back side of the pens, chicks seem to like it better when sheet is up, it also prevents Mindy from trying to squeeze in behind to get closer to the chicks when they move to that side.
Sorry so long... but pics show the progress better than trying to describe them.
