It is morning and i am gazing at the pictures on here, then you mention hubby,,,,,man you sure do know how to ruin a wet....a never mind...it is a family site.....Wing - I have no idea what shift you are on. PM me about a good time to wander over and see what you might have that I "need". Almost anytime in the next week works for me, but if hubby is around it would be great since I could get straw at the same time. (thereby reducing the space available for chickens in my truck)

Someone Photoshop chickens on his shoulders
Hello! Delware County here, just south of Philly.
I have no chickens yet, but I hope to get started in May. I've been reading what I can, but of course I still feel a little clueless.
I'm not equipped to build my own coop, so I'll likely be purchasing one. THIS ONE on Amazon seems to get good reviews and looks like it should do the job for 3 hens which is what I plan to have. Does anyone know of a fairly local (not crazy expensive) place to check out and purchase a coop? I'd really like one of the "tractor" types with wheels to move it around the yard easily, but I haven't found one that looks to be of good quality without costing too much.
As for the breed of chickens, THIS ARTICLE has really sold me on the Buff Orpingtons. I need the chickens to be as kid-friendly as possible. It does mention that they may be kind of loud... how loud are we talking here? Is it constant loud noise? Occasional? Just trying to get the best understanding ahead of time to make the best choices. Is there a good local spot to get my chickens from?
Any help is appreciated!
My first bobwhite! Two days early.

I am always happy to help some one if they need something drawn up.Nice. Wish I were so gifted in design.
I waited for 9 months for my Silkie to lay an egg...and then he crowed! So now I think 2 of the polish are finally laying (can't say much about the silkies.). I feel like I need to woo them. LOL! I just love those babies!
So now I'm up to 3 eggs a day.
The hunk and I were talking about expanding the run already. I need to figure out what I need to do with it. I know I want to separate the brahmas to breed each other, the silkies to breed each other and the polish to breed each other. All the mix birds can go in the main coop. So needless to say I have a huge project coming up when the weather warms up. Grr
