Happy weekend, all!
Good Moring! So happy to see the sun! Now for it to melt all the snow and make a nice muddy mess for the animals to play in... They get sheered in one week... Any one want some raw wool? I only keep 2 fleeces now. I kept 6 last year and had WAY too much yarn. Nice and soft and a good length.
I am a big knitter/crocheter and if you have any extra, I would love to buy some raw wool from you! PM me here or [email protected]

Hope all is well and Happy Easter!!

Does anyone here breed Ameraucanas? My friend is looking for a Blue roo. She has a very nice SQ black hen and a splash hen, and unfortunately got stuck with an F2 Lavender Wheaten project roo. He's gorgeous but he's not useful for breeding. She's willing to buy or trade for a replacement rooster. The lav project roo is very very pretty and would work well for someone who's wanting to makes some gorgeous Lav EEs or continue the project!
Thanks, Susan

That's what it looks like at the moment, I'm not sure yet :)
Pic please! And if you decide you don't want it, and it's a girl...I'll take it off your hands. My silver sebright roo is lonely.
I want this.......do you think hubby would get overly mad about it..??
Of course not...you can hide it in one of the chicken pens, he'll never notice it.

I got my Ameraucanas from SgtMom last year. Wound up with all boys, believe I have blues. I'll get pics this afternoon on Fiancee's new smartphone and post them for you.

Ok, now that someone brought these up, I have to ask. What do you do with these?? And Chiques- how cute is that chicky!!! Congrats!!
Watch. they lay eggs and they can be eaten.
Ok, that's what I wondered. My father LOVES quail. I thought about raising some for him. Will you butcher or will someone do it for you?
I have some and I am really close by.
WOW! I wish I could do that. Just starting now with certain breeds of chickens I don't mind raising for meat, but don't know how to butcher myself. I take em to a guy and pay per bird.
I can do it, There is a fella in Frystown that charges $1.50/ fryer and $1.75/broiler
Oh Christ... now I'm scared that if I get chickens they'll attack my son who is 5 years old, and has autism. He's petrified of dogs, but likes looking at the chickens at Linvilla Orchards.
Most chickens are really good with kids. I have a 2 1/2 yr old that loves them!
Made my first egg sale today!!! Good deal...$1 a dozen!!!!
I usually get $2.50/dz
Woo hoo ~ my Bobwhite Quail "Grace" laid her first egg today. It was soft shelled and broke ~ but it is a start!

Excellent! I have 3 BW quail and I'm waiting for the lil girl to lay hers.

I laugh in the face of child labor laws!!!

How awesome is life baby!!!
Child Labor laws? My kids have their own work clothes.

Finished product of my mandarin nest box!
That is an excellent setup! Great work!

My male in all of these pics. :)

The male and female mandarin with the female pheasant.

The female.
Beautiful birds!

Nope...just tell him it's an oversized kitten when he realizes it's there.

:) we are vegan/Vegetarian. We won't eat our pets. When I told my son we will have to get rid of the too he defended him saying "he's just being the boss, it's not his fault. I don't want him to die". We don't believe in killing something just because its mean.

We would just re-home him with the assumption that he will live a long happy life.
(Even if that just may not be the case.)
Perfectly understandable! I actually had a pet steer named Georgie that was just a love of my life! He was like having a 2000 pound dog. He even kissed my belly when I was pregnant with my youngest. I loved him more than I can say, and wouldn't butcher him for anything! He passed away of a brain aneurism, and my husband is still brooding over the fact of 2000 lbs of meat not in our freezer.......but I just loved him too much. I agree with wing ~ just tell the new owner about his histroy so no one will get hurt ~ and I'll be praying you find a good home for him!

Thanks! Gonna give you a shout out PM- maybe you could tell me some more. Was gonna give them to my dad for Father's day.

Think I have to have a discussion with my girls in the coop tonight.

I'm Italian, and every year we make Easter Pies......egg, cheese, sausage, ham in a crust.........and I had to RUN OUT TO THE STORE and BUY EGGS. Thinkin my girls are just old enough that they don't really care anymore that THEY are supposed to be handlin that part!!!
