Time for a "Sally style" post.
OH silkieSensation!! I just visited your page, and posted a comment!! Purple EGGS!! Oh I gotta get me some of those!! WHAT AM I DOING!!! hahahahah!!! I have too my chickens all ready, just got rid of my Roo, feel terrible about that!! hatching 12, they are all developing it looks like, and 12 in the barn.... i better get this run completed this weekend.. so they have more room.. or extend the coop to be the entire 20x20ft barn.. I only have a 1/4 of that sectioned off for them at the moment,, then the run that should fix the room problem anyways..
The purple eggs belong to my Amish friend up the road so I can't swap them, but I sell them for her & can ship. They have been hatching really well. She has 1-2 hens that lay eggs with a purple tint so would have to collect about a week to get 12. I usually have her only collect 24-48 hours before ship so typically you get 1-3 purples in a batch.
I am tempted also, you seen what I am up against,,,,,,,,,how can I downsize with offers like this all the time, and did you see she has ducks also..
Yup, duckies are mine & they are outlaying the chickens right now. I have pekins & runners hatching now & eggs waiting to be shipped to whoever wants them. THESE I can trade with if you have a different breed of duck or goose to offer.
Purple eggs?!
No, can't, must not. SO saw those on Easter hatch along. Don't even say there is a possibility. I don't have room.
Edit to correct spell correct.
Yep, purple. Everyone needs purple eggs in their basket.
I have some chicks from her flock growing out too that are for sale, but no clue who came from which color egg.
but hubby,,,,,,really they are not mine......
not sure about yours but my hubby would never fall for that......
did you see silkiesens has purple eggs,,,,I am intrigued.
Yep, see above for purple eggs...LOL
LOL I think it's a bit late to stop the coffee! We tease the littles (their mom is only 5 ft and the almost 3 yr old fits in 18 month clothes....) that we put coffee in their bottles so they would never grow.
Purple??? Purple??? Hell, I'd drive to Ohio for that!
6ft-5*9=3 inches=ALMOST
Have to make a train of it for everyone else wanting my birds & eggs & getting the stuff from way east I want.
And I'm only 10 miles from the PA border.
Did I mention that the eggs in the bator are doing great, figures...when they are eggs that really don;t matter.....
6 of 6 d'anver still doing good and 10 of 13 call ducks looking good....not sure about what joan or eli have at their place..
If the calls are yours I'd love to swap for some if I have anything you want.
nope ! working inside today, to hot outside
since I have not got around to ......let's just say I need a weed whacker..........I really can not go out in public with shorts on yet.......
yea, I know ......to much info..........but atleast you are aware of what i am doing if I disappear for awhile....might take days...
Broke out the shorts yesterday & today while working on the new coop. Since BigPoppy & the kids are the only ones going to see my legs I didn't bother with the weed whacker yet.
I have had 2 traps out with the dead birds in them and have caught nothing. I am going to have to get rid of the dead birds soon before they smell too bad. I will probably re-bait with something else when I do that. Anyone with suggestions of good bait that doesn't stink too bad?
Canned chicken, tuna or salmon all work well.
I know what you mean. I cleaned mine out in Nov. Forgot how dusty shavings can be, but the coop smells so much nicer.
UGHHH! A lot of my birds have been in the basement since Christmas when I moved to the new house. We are gradually tossing them out as we get new coops done, but the basement is going to need to be HOSED when we get the last of them out. We have done what we can to keep everything shoveled out, but it all still smells like chicken poop. I'll be breaking out the gallons of bleach & the power washer.
do call ducks take the full 28 days or less..seems beig so small it should be less...I am thinking 25 days for calls........
Average for calls is 26 days. Lockdown on day 23 & figure hatch anywhere between 25-27 depending on how your temps run. They are very temp sensitive just like a lot of bantam chickens.
Duckie math is just as bad as chicken math!! Started out with 2 Perkins 5 weeks ago and now have 3 mallards, 3 kahki Campbell's and 4 rouens. I love the look of the Ancona and wish I had room.
I MAKE room for my anconas. I have 15 eggs out of 17 currently in the bator due on the 23rd swimming around their eggies beautifully. I see another coop on the list to build.
No, didn't you know you live in PA? There are 2 seasons, Summer and Winter...they are separated by 2 months of mud on each end.
This whole house is wallpapered...and what isn't wallpapered is oil painted....blech...I just love this.
That's Ohio too. 4 months of cold, ice & snow, 4 months of heat, thunder storms & tornadoes, 2 months on each side between of cold rain & mud.
