Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I know the needle/wedding ring sexing for human pregnancies was spot on with everyone I know that tried it, including myself (so far, according to it I've got 6 more pregnancies to go). I have never tried it on an animal, I may try it on animals I know the sex of first to see how accurate it is.
OK... I am lost... I have never heard of the 'needle trick' or wedding ring sexing thing? But then again, I've only ever been to two or three baby showers, so missed much of the 'lore'.
TODAY FEELS LIKE QUITE A BLESSED DAY!!!!

TWO LOTS OF GOOD NEWS!

First- Lil baby Si, the hurt chick I got from TSC.....yeah, well he is showing great signs of improvement today and FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, he ran a little!!! He has barely been able to walk! He's just making leaps and bounds and I think he may have a good chance!!! Also climbed up my shoulder to snuggle in my neck on his own today!!!!!! I LOVE HIM SO MUCH! And whatever happens now, I don't regret any of this! The other 6 banties I got to keep him company all snuggle with him and cuddle, and I think all this love is what is pulling him through!!!

I need some serious advice! I have 7 week old girls and 3 week old girls. I have been letting them spend time together outside when the weather is nice. The older girls are not nice at all to the Littles. They peck at them and scream kind of a high pitched squeal. I do have them separated with some wire so they can't hurt them. What should I do? Is it just a matter of getting the little girls out more with them or will they just hate them forever???
Ours have fussed at each other, but it reduces over time. Biggest thing to avoid is causing competition for food or water that can make things worse. Make sure there are plenty of options and also that the little ones can't be cornered and keep an eye on them till they settle. Some flocks never really integrate, but usually that is if there are mature birds involved. There may be one or two birds that continue to be agressive, but that is a personality thing and you should be able to pick it out pretty quickly if that is the case. When that happens you may have to seperate the offender for a while to cool their jets.

You take a sewing needle or wedding ring (supposedly engagement rings work as well, I've only ever tried the needle) thread it onto cotton thread, and either lay it on the hand for a 10 seconds or tap it on the hand 10 times while holding the thread. When you pick it up it will either swing back and forth (boy) or in a circle (girl), it will slow down and usually stop between each pregnancy. If it changes directions without stopping it's multiples. If you're pregnant and do it over your lower belly it's supposed to show the sex. I found out (when we did my Gram and Aunt) it does count pregnancies that are not full term (i.e. miscarriages). It also changes for women if you break up and start seeing someone else (mine has changed with each BF, and this is the first time it has matched the "readings" from when I've been single), I don't know if it changes for men.

Screenname explaination ^^; My given name is Ashley and I adored japanese manga and anime when I was growing up. I had several penpals and we all chose character names from one anime called Inu Yasha. I couldn't pick between Kagome and Kikyo. So I sort of combined em xD into Kiomey.  I was born in 1987, I just turned 26 yrs old ^^ Hope everyone's having a lovely week.

So Friday May 3rd at 5 pm work for so yo co peoples? Which place, Ruby Tuesdays or Bill Batemans? xD

I loved Inu Yasha!

There is NEVER a financial profit to backyard chickens just from egg sales if you are buying food. Birds that completely free range may have a slight profit.

Only 3 showers!? How ever did you manage to be so lucky?

I've never done the needle trick with much success. I find the Magic 8 Ball much more reliable.

Gotta agree wholeheartedly with that statement. I'm in it for the joy of it, the eggs are a nice bonus!

Can't say that. Otherwise nobody would be able to buy eggs at the store.
Your problem depends on MANY variables. First, the accomodations... is the coop built with recycled materials or purchased prefab? Do you recycle water/feed containers or do you buy new from TSC? Where do you get your chickens and at what age? You could easily make money on eating egg sales if you're smart and strict. Build coop with free material, pick up older laying hens for free from individuals, feed scraps (your's and from a restaurant) and tada. You'll get eggs without having to spend a fortune. Even if you buy feed, if you supplement free-range with feed, it can be cost efficient. Also, what's the supply/demand in your area? If feeding scrap only, they might be soy, corn and all GMO free, plus free-range... this might sell for $6/dozen if you're in a good area and have great marketing skills.

Unfortunately, it's cheaper to buy eggs...but that doesn't mean you get anything resembling quality.

If you don't count the ones at work for employees....I've been to 1, my kid sister's. Her bridal shower is also the only bridal shower I've been to besides my own.
