Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

But of course. Ans so is Heather if I remember correctly..and my neighbor down the road, and my small engine repair guy...and the people across the street from them...and on of my daisys...apparently we're all nobodies.

Lol I am, too! :D Just out of curiosity, who is your small engine repair guy? My Dad has a small engine repair business.

I'm sorry I almost spit out my juice reading that. I called our Ag Extension. And was told by our Ag officer that the ONLY person in the state who handles poultry is the Lancaster Ag officer. If I wanted to know what native plants I should plant, she'd gladly talk to me, but "noone" in Cumberland County has chickens, they're dirty things.
Wow.... that is a sad example of what our 'public servants' are turned into???!! These people are paid with our tax money to provide a service. If they can't do it then someone who can do the job should replace them!

Sorry, but if I got that answer I'd be on the phone to Harrisburg or somewhere further up the line and raising heck about folks not doing their job. I have done it with Fish Comm. folks...
The older I get the less time I have for folks getting paid for not doing what they are supposed to do!

This is gonna sound silly, but I can't think of the name, I just know they're on Red Tank Road in South Middleton Township. But I'm fairly certain they have boys, not girls....

Missy,

I'll shoot you a PM. I know someone who works for the extension in Adams county. She did recently tell me that the extension system has been reorganized so that extension staff members are more able to specialize in their areas of expertise. That does mean that the 'poultry expert' might be in the Lancaster office, but anyone in the state can use their services. Since so much information dissemination happens online anymore, it makes sense.

Anyone else have issues with wild birds trying to get into their house? I opened the window in the brood room to get some fresh air in, turn my back to mix the FF and I hear a weird chirping at the window. I turn around and there's 4 sparrows on the sill trying to get in (thank goodness I had the screen down) and my chicks were darn near screaming bloody murder. I know several are nesting near the window, they've been chasing my cats. I wonder if it was the smell from the feed or if it was the chirping from the chicks. Hmmm

Quote: Until a year ago, I completely agreed. ALL birds were gross. Oh, how things have changed. I still don't understand sitting in bird poo.

That is a good question. I think it is more the chirping. It sounds cute and funny. I know that because of disease that it isn't.

Those little birdies go crazy for chicken feed, especially FF!

Quote: That's why I'm so thankful I had the screen down. I know we'll have more issues with the wild birds when the chicks are moved outside, doesn't help that my neighbor (AKA Mom) loves feeding them and gets mad when we need to take the feeders down to keep the bears away.
Quote: Good to know. Now I'll be doubly sure the coop and run are as wild bird AND predator proof as possible.
