Omelet, is Omelman. Its a rooster. Even at 10 weeks, that is a huge comb. The wattles not only are they growing, but they are red. The comb on a hen, won't get that red until right before she start to lay.

I am sorry you are disappointed. It happens to everyone, and the person you got him from might not of known either, or they did??????
No, I don't think she did. I've had hens before, and they had pretty small combs. But the fully grown hens she had had HUGE combs, so that kind of threw me off. Also, i was just so excited to finally be getting chickens again all logic flew out the door, along with the little knowledge I had of sexing.

Looking for ways to cut back before hubby goes unemployed,,ideas please,,,I am already known as cheap but surely I can cut things farther.

also have barley coming off in a few weeks, those that want barley need to send me a pm with the average amount they want...beaglady,,,I will deliver yours and get a soap supply at the same time.

also a small rant....had to go get a new alarm clock...do they not make anything simple anymore,,,i really would get an old big ben wind up type, but they price them as if they are antique...

. Oh boy! Too funny. And I agree, looks like a Roo but I wouldn't give up hope just yet...perhaps this chook is crossed with White Leghorn? Then you would see quite the comb at this age
Hopefully! I'm not going to give up on this one until I hear a crow! I promised my mother she could eat the roosters but I think I'll find this one a nice home, s/he is too sweet.

....my husband has been obsessing about getting some turkey, so, if anyone has any (LOL) this is what I'm looking for.
In order of preference: Narragansett, Royal Palm, Slate, Red Bourbon, Bronze.
Our anniversary is June 5th so I thought it would be the perfect gift.
The main purpose of getting them would be for pets/breeding. Under 1 year old and over 8-10 weeks is preferred. They will be housed with my chickens. If anyone local to me has any send me a shout
