You bet! She was shy at first and even pecked me a little! But now she speeds around through everyone's legs and steals all the treats out of my hands. I decided to rename her Pippa. It's close to her first name and also one of my favorite names.

Charlotte, the Marans is still so tiny! Is she supposed to grow slow or is she a bantam, too?

On another note, all the chicks are spending their first night outside tonight. It's weird not having them peeping in the house.
 
Well, going through a very hard time in my life. Life's pretty intolerable right now, I'm tired of constantly fighting with my dad about the state of this household. He's stubborn and listens to nobody. So I have a dilemma, my only option is moving to my mom's house, in a very cute but very suburban neighborhood. So I would have to sell most of my flock. This just sucks. My dad will probably keep the pullets (8 RSL, 2 BC Marans, 1 Cali Grey and 1 SS) and a rooster or two(Maybe Artie and Beau, or one of the polish). He'll also probably keep my flock of KCs, 2 drakes and 4 females (that's ok, I guess. One of my breeding pens will be intact) but the rest would have to go. So all of my Buckeyes, German New Hampshires, Various bantams and most painfully probably my goose Nonalee and my silkies Rory, Reggie, and Phred. I probably can't even take the silkies with me. This just all around sucks. Haven't decided what to do yet, but I don't want to have to keep living with my Dad's garbage. This just sucks so bad :(

Let me know if you need homes for any. If I can't take them for myself I can usually find homes pretty quick.
 
I am in deep! I have nine pullets in the backyard (2 Rhode Island red, 2 Tetra Tint,1 barred Rock, 1 Buff orpington, 1 red Sussex, 1 bantam auracauna, 1 bantam Cochin) I have six black copper marans coming the 26th, 4-6 olive eggers next week, and 10 more chicks coming mid July (2 blue Cochin, 2 blue Andalusian, 2 welsummer, 2 Easter egger, and 2 partridge marans). I am in way over my head and cant back out of any of these birds. So I am wondering would anyone like any of these fluffy butts? No charge just arrange transportation from northeast Ohio. Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks everybody!

You know we're all here for you if you need to vent! Give it time...things tend to seem worse than they are.

Oh boy. So sorry. Hang in there, things may look better after a break, maybe a visit to Mom?

If you are already committed to the move, you might be able to sell some of your birds to our 4H, I know you keep good stock and we've got a meeting this Saturday. We will be discussing the upcoming show, most of our kids have less than show quality birds, PM me a list and prices if you've definitely decided that is the route you are taking.

I am sorry you are going through this. If you are considering making your flock smaller, because of the at home garbage, it must be really bad right? If you are so unhappy that your chickens can't help you through it. Remember this, you can always get more chickens later. I know it seems like the end of the world, you need to put yourself first..................................
