Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

i understand the stinky part, sometimes one travels down the dry creek bed outside out bedroom window late at night, early in the mornings, smells like he crawled into bed with us

, we caught one in a live trap, almost pure white, thought it was one of our cats at first, when husband went to let it out, found out it was a skunk, told him to cover it with a blanket or something so it couldn't see him, and then open the door, it finally woke up that evening and went on its way. if we catch another thats wanting to spray us, will call oldest granddaughter, shes crazy, thinks they smell good

I don't mind it from a distance - skunks were all very new to me when I came to the US lol the smell from a distance when it is really faint, reminds me of a creek near my old house back in australia lol

I've read that feather picking can be a sign of low protein
we got a pretty big raccoon in the trap last night. We took it, and the two from last week and dropped them at a taxidermist in Philly this morning. Just as a donation. The taxidermist is a young woman, she showed my son around her studio and gave him a momento, it was very cool.
I'm gonna miss you again! Boo.
Do they have Guinnea Pigs
lau.gif
and are guinness pigs pale, raging alcoholics?? hehehehe

That is cool about the taxidermist, I'd never have thought of that. I bet the tour was awesome!! Did she have any really interesting pieces??

One of my Leghorns is laying. Now I want more white eggs.
If I cross the LH pullet with a RIR rooster, will the eggs be white or brown? I knew this stuff a year ago.Now you can forget it. I did! LOL.

:frow Hello all....I have some , well...alot of reading to catch up on here..geesh... Well, I have some great news..I am now a Certified Poultry Tech!!

I took the last part of the testing this morning and passed !!! So happy I finally have been able to get it done! Chad, Thank you for pointing me in this direction. It wouldn't have happened if you didn't share the info. on the testing in the first place. Now, I can make sure my birds, along with anyone Else's that is interested is healthy. The vet that covers this area, along with many others, was so nice. She spent 2 hours here, at my home, going over everything I need to know, she showed me the blood draw on one wing and I did the other three. She also had me do the cocial(sp?) and esophageal swabs. She had so much knowledge to share, I could have picked her brain all day!

Okay, Just wanted to share the good news with everyone, Hope you all are well...I really have to get caught up on this thing! - Danielle
Wooohooo! Way to go, girlie!!

I have continued my work on my coop made from scrap wood , a dresser and whatever materials I can find around here!

I do believe----It would be MUCH MUCH easier AND TIME EFFICIENT to just buy the wood that you need and assemble as opposed to make an assorted set of pieces of wood come together somehow!

I also think the guy in Quakertown----that STAKE recommended -----is definitely doing a great job for a reasonable price...............I know this now that I have spent some time in the building phase!

At this point I just gotta finish the project.

When I do this again, however---------------I will do it much much differently!

I am learning!

I still have so much building to do! Hope the rain lets up this weekend so I can get it done more easily! that's my update!

On a similar note, my cousin made a pool heater by attaching a 50' garden hose to a piece of plywood, painting the whole thing black, position the contraption towards the sun, and connecting the entire thing to his pool return lines....worked well.....
Hubby did that with our pool. The pool house roof is metal so he laid black hose on the roof and then connected it to the filter. Voila! Free heat!
This soda can thing looks awesome! I might have to play around with that idea. I have looked at a couple sites about building a windmill generator but haven't done anything with that either. I guess I better get serious about it soon because even though it is still July, winter has a way of sneaking up on me before I even realize its here.
Let me know if you get around to it before I do. I have it on my to do list for the Fall. I want a green house too but I doubt hubby will be able to build it this year. Maybe sometime in the next two years....
lol thought you'd get a laugh out of it. Speaking of pests, I am having some creature come at night in the garden I have right by the front of the house, digs a bit around my flowers (thankfully hasn't dug any out) and then it craps right on the front porch or over by the rocks that circle my other garden .... I am getting beyond annoyed with this going on

The first thing I want to see when I walk out the front in the morning is my flowers, not dirt and animal crap. I am thinking I might have to get the webcam we have and sit it in the front window & record over night to find out what the heck it is. Anyone else ever have this problem???
I agree, skunk. Some mornings I walk outside and it looks like those crop circles that appear in corn fields. Hundreds and hundreds of little holes! Hubby caught the skunk in the act early one morning.

I don't know what that means but congrats!!!!

Yeah they are cute unfortunately but not something I need around - I did notice the other night when I opened the front door that there was that skunk smell but there was nothing around the yard, I look the flashlight out and had a look, guess it heard me coming.
Could also be someones cat. I know people in the city have issues with cats pooing in their flower beds and what not.
